Not true in all cases. There are guys who are waiting for Dwight to make a decision before they make any decisions. It's a huge reason why bigs haven't been signing just yet.

As for a guy like Copeland, waiting is a good idea as he hasn't been offered anything too good to pass up and the Pelicans makes an attractive option due to the giant hole we have in the SF position.

There are a lot of variables that comes into play.

We may pull the offer, trade for G Green and first rounder for lopez, and go after Asik and Parsons when Houston needs to sign DH and Jsmith and trade vasquez and indy first rounder.

    afternoon dreaming

It's not as simple clearly but I'm pretty convinced that most of them could have waited until this WE easily if they wanted to. The only good reasons they have to move on are if the other teams ask for an urgent answer and has other FAs they are in discussion with or if they found the "perfect" team for them (which means they are not interested).

It's all about risk/reward ... if the risk is low and your agent has been contacted by several GMs that clearly has a need for your position they really aren't other reasons to not take the low risk path.

As for the Evans situation ... we are not waiting for Evans anymore but for Sac to decide if they are ready to sign him to a similar contract or if they want a S&T.
Honestly, I find that Evans have been pretty good with his stance until now. Using vague and unofficial source to imply that you are OK with whatever the guys who decides, well decides is how FAs in his position should do. He clearly likes our proposition (and seemingly don't mind staying) but understands he is in no position to make demands (something EG should have understood).

Fortunatly, Sac also can't do anything on the FA front until they decide too so they should not take too long ... but since it is Sac they might be delibirating until the 13th even if that means they lose on Vasquez or Lopez in a S&T.

    There we go!

We made the offer on Monday. It's Wednesday, and a lot of indications have been we'll probably hear something soon. I'm sure if the Pelicans have a pressing need to move forward, Demps has conveyed it to Evans' agent. 3 days is forever to us since we want to hear something, but we're in no different boat as anyone talking to Howard, Josh Smith, Iggy or any of the other major free agents.

We can move forward just like anyone else can, if we tell Evans "we need an answer by XXX". Probably not worth it to do that, though, and all we've missed out on so far is the right for Minnesota to outbid us on K Mart and Budinger.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

No. He's probably working on it or finishing it up. Maybe another 10-15 mins?

Question, last season we landed two RFA's, Anderson and Lopez, via a S&T. Is that a coincidence? Dell likes to complete trades to land RFA's?

  18. #1943
So he's not gonna sign their counteroffer is basically what we know. Sign and match or sign and trade now.

  19. #1944
So why do you think he had the change of heart guys? Do you think he felt disrespected by kings pursuit of iggy and so by pulling the iggy offer kings have now dissed 2 players? Though i guess they could still match i mean we all know how that part works, but i'm happy to hear this from him.

It's the smart avenue, honestly. Trade a non long-term asset for the security of knowing the deal is done. No S&T means we leave the Kings the power to ruin the offseason for us, cause we'll have to sit out 10 days effectively.

Man, this really must be how it was for Phoenix last year. We're at the "Gordon says his heart's in PHX" stage right now. Just get a S&T done!

Not even close. Gordon agreed to terms with Phoenix during his visit. We also put out a statement that confirms that we'll match on top of all the rumors that said we'll match.

Sac would be down right retarded not to match or at least get a sign+trade for value

If they don't opt for a S&T at all, they're thinking match.
