Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 4m
Word is Corey Brewer, on top looming sitdown w/Rockets, drawing interest from New Orleans and Atlanta as well. Also: Denver wants him back
wait.. maybe i should start 4 threads with this
A guy that plays in California that nobody in the league believes in anymore, brought to a New Orleans Franchise.......
I've heard this song before.....
If we don't start Tyreke at SF and instead have him come off the bench then a) who do we start at SF? and b) do we have both Ryno and Tyreke as 6th men?
It wasn't only reported by one source.
I'm not saying he isn't ever going to play minutes at the 3... the fact of the matter is, he's going to be coming off the bench. We're going to have another SF brought in to start unless we resign Aminu or use the in house version of Miller (which I highly doubt)
It makes us a better team to have Reke and Ryno on that second unit putting up points. And in the event we keep the scrub, you're boy Rivers will also be playing the "PG" as it'll feature two combo guards running the 2nd team w/ Anderson, Smith, & Miller.
I don't call that a bad idea in the least.
EGO & Vasquez will be traded ! Leaves monies for Budinger & Wright ! I would also look at B. Mullin ! hes 7'0, 275 ! Basically a R.Lopez but shoots 32% from 3 ! & cheaper ! Jrue--Reke---Wright---AD----Mullin !
Wow I thought this would take more time ! Right now, we are filled with guards, so a trade is coming... I wish we will keep EG.
"I go so hard, I go so mean... I'm so NEW ORLEANS" - Lil' Wayne"We not stopping at no stores man ! We staying on the gas !" - Tyreke Evans
The Pelicans view Tyreke Evans as a combo guard, not a small forward.

Had also heard Pelicans plan to keep Gordon. Would move Vasquez instead.

If Gordon is kept and Evans is brought in at anywhere above 10 million, then Evans is playing major minutes at the 3. Fact.
I hate to be the guy to say go look at the stats but...
Well no, here is what I will say, yeah if Gordon is healthy he is probably better, but if my aunt had nutts she wouldn't be my aunt now would she. Dude can't stay healthy. Dude has been hurt everywhere he has gone since high school.
It's becoming more apparent that this team is being built like the Spurs except younger and more athletic.
Dell-Monty have been waiting for this off-season for a couple years to make their move with the team they've wanted.
Plus, we get the new ownership and re-brand this season. It's going to set a precedent for winning basketball for the Pelicans.
So? Pelicans don't need more athleticism (that's the most overrated part of the game, BTW - almost every draft bust is because GMs look only on athleticism), but more shooting (spacing) and defense. Redick is better than Evans in both.
64% at rim. That's not super elite. And Redick is better here too: 66%And Tyreke's midrange game stinks but he scores in the lane at a super elite rate.![]()
Is it possible that maybe we would bring Gordon off the bench to reduce his minutes and exposure to being injured until his trade value goes up? Granted it wouldn't make much sense to pay the "cornerstone" 14 mil to come off the bench.
If you will excuse me, I have to go return some video tapes.
Good luck to Gravy if he does go. He seems like the first one on the shopping list.
Whenever we get someone, you make him out to be a Hall of Famer. He is not a great passer nor does he have great court vision. He is a good player. The concern with him in the past has been the fact that he is a black hole when he gets the ball and has not always been in shape. I love how he gets to the rim. At about $8-$10 million less, I would probably be OK with the signing.
I love him coming off the bench. I thought you were saying he's coming off as a 2, but I think we now agree that he's coming off as a 3.
I think the idea we're working towards is having a 3 guard rotation of Holiday, Gordon, and Rivers. We rotate them in and out all game, because all 3 of them can handle the rock, so let's forget who is the 1 and who is the 2 for a minute. Then, we have a cheap "starter" at SF like Aminu, and bring Evans off the bench, but he still gets most of the minutes at that position. I LOVE that idea, and if any of our guards get injured, than Evans can just slide over and play their position until they are healthy again.
This is how I feel to be honest replacing one overpaid player (Gordon) with another; and thats assuming we even trade Gordon; and even if we do trade Gordon that leaves us with a shooting guard who can't shoot; don't get me wrong i'm intrigued by the move but currently not seeing this deal in a particularly positive light
