That would kill the whole point of trading Lopez.
Remember, we HAVE to clear 5.5 million in cap space between now and the 10th. Taking back salary for Lopez kills the whole point of trading him
You can take back a little if you plan to trade Vasquez, but not much. No more than 2 to 2.5 million
Assuming the report of Demps' structuring the deal to maximize Sac's difficulty in retaining is correct, they could have asked him if he'd be willing to just sign their offer. He and his agent then reply, "you want us to do that, hike up your offer and it's done." Sac declines to add money to the deal, Evans just needs to sign our offer sheet; he doesn't need to cave to them, and it sounds like he might get paid more up front in our deal.
Wish there was a way to get Tyreke, keep Lopez, n move EG for a SF. Know not possible but would be nice. Imagine jrue, tyreke, decent SF, Davis, Lopez. Bench with GV and RA playing heavy minutes. I know GV will prob be traded but with his low salary n if he is not a starter would be nice to keep.
Under 2.2mil

Trade GV for Evans and you still need to clear about 3 mil. Could trade Smith or Rivers and then dump all the little guys like Roberts, Thomas, Miller, etc. and get there.
Only way you keep Lopez. Gotta lose Lopez OR GV, and either Smith or Rivers. I choose Lopez personally
It's not about the Luxury tax it's about the CAP
Well can't you go over the cap if you pay three times every million you are over?
I'm no expert but I'd rather lose GV / Smith n those guys than Lopez. At under 6 mil a year, he is a bargain. After get rid of EG you have plenty of money to fill out roster with low cost guys. Just my opinion, I'm excited to possibly see jrue n tyreke starting on team.
Ok, but it is still big money in Evans pocket if he were to get traded. Why would he allow it to be removed from his potential future income. He is not trying to make it more difficult for the Kings to match. He is just trying to get the most $$$, regardless of who pays it.
Lopez over Smith all pass, Smith is better in most area's and gets paid about the same.
It's logical, but I disagree. I think I can find a guy to give me 12-15 minutes at center with room exception this year, then use MLE to get a guy to fill that role next year and beyond. Lopez is replaceable IMO. Guys like Smith are more rare and he is on an even better deal
This won't break me if we miss out on Reke but this is crazy :hihi:
Ok, I got to the bottom of it.
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q96Quote:
Teams are permitted to write a bonus called a "trade bonus" (sometimes referred to as a "trade kicker") into contracts. This bonus is paid to the player when he is traded, but only upon his first trade and not upon any subsequent trades (in the case of a sign-and-trade, they don't count the initial trade when the contract is signed).
Sign Tyreke Evans
Sign Chris Copeland
Sign Samuel Dalembert
Trade:
Pels receive Klay Thompson, T'Wolves '14 1st, Warriors '14 2nd
Warriors receive Eric Gordon, Alexey Shved
T'Wolves receive David Lee
Trade:
Pels receive Danny Granger
Pacers receive Greivis Vasquez
Holiday/Rivers/Jackson
Thompson/Evans/Harris
Granger/Miller/Thomas
Davis/Anderson/Smith
Lopez/Dalembert
Possible anyone?
if Pels land Evans are they likely to trade Gordon?
Like the Saints with 3 string rb's, Dell takes journeymen and castoffs and turns them into jewels that he can trade off. If we lose Lopez or Smith we can replace them like we did with Ayon and Juju.
JuJu you are kidding? Smith is the key to this move for Tyreke!!!!!!!!
Monty loves Smith. He is about the only player he consistently praises in interviews.
I wonder how Suns fans feel about this!
Yes, JuJu, Ayon, Etc. guys who nobody wanted before that Dell moved for something. The same will happen should we lose Smith or Lopez. It's not like people were knocking down these guys doors before, but now after these guys have shown that they can play they will net you more than you could have commanded prior.
I want this to end. I just want to watch basketball again and forget that I have almost memorized 100s of pages of legal crap for this horrific time of year. Why can't they just play a huge pickup tournament every year?
I thought we were supposed to be posting in the "part two" thread now? But anyways, this will the the longest 6 days of my life, possibly 9 if the Kings refuse to match or wait till the last minute to screw us.
The Kings pulled the offer after 3 hours. The same evening they made the offer. You have ZERO proof that he was using Sacramento to leverage another deal. All you have is a bunch of speculations and rumors that came out of the Kings beat writers and bloggers mouth. Guess what? They said the same crap about Evans. And they were once again wrong.
Do you think either us or sac are interested in a lopez+vasquez for evans deal?
Always a possibility. We have to first find out if the Kings are interested in a S&T for Evans. Once we have the confirmation we're looking for, it'll be easier to figure out. I think If Lopez is not waived or moved by the 5th, I think there's a good chance he's part of a S&T.
