He's cheap because he's hot garbage, thankfully he's off the board so Griff's been saved from himself.

Good... never understood what we'd be getting from them that would be better than keeping Ingram.

Nothing, the point of the Kings trade (which I'm not even a fan of, I just think you have to be fair to the arguments) is that DJM is already the primary BI replacement, and that the Kings deal would be a 3 teamer getting a C as well as Barnes and picks.

So you could imagine it less as ''we're trading BI for Barnes?!'' and more as ''We traded BI, Dyson, and Nance for DJM, Barnes, WCJ, and 2 first round picks''. Which I think most people would agree isn't a completely unfair return.

New Scotto article. Here's the relevant Pels part:

The Warriors, Kings, Spurs, Timberwolves, and Pelicans are among the teams who’ve expressed interest in trading for Markkanen, league sources told HoopsHype.
Not really much, but it's something I guess.

Problem is it just wouldn't be true.

If you send out those parts and get those things in return, I dont really care which direction each outgoing part heads, personally. Obviously they're technically separate transactions but what matters is the result more than anything, and its functionally the same either way. Same players out, same return in.

News of no big men left in FA might actually be good news for those who want Ingram traded. Front office might feel compelled to move Ingram for a solid/ to moderately good big and pieces.

I don't see the Pels getting a good big if Ingram isn't included in a trade package. I could be wrong though.

I’m holding out hope that we can somehow pry Jarrett Allen free from the Cavaliers. There’s a lot of rumblings out there that he might not be a fit for the new Coach’s plans.

If the Pels really wanted him I'm sure they'd have him. He's a solid big, not premier. The Pels have premier assets.

BI for Lauri Markkanen ******** it lets do it. We can go small ball.

    Murray
    CJ
    Herb or Trey
    Zion
    Lauri

Good move for the Suns, Monte Morris is an excellent backup point.

From the sounds of it, BI would not be close to enough. They're asking for an AD level return, from what little has been discussed publicly.

Also - worth mentioning, though I don't think it's a deal-ender - but Lauri is not a 5. Yes, he's tall, but he doesn't defend 5s, he doesn't protect the rim, and he's not even a particularly great rebounder for someone of his size. The Jazz have almost exclusively played him alongside another big for a fairly good reason, imo.

We would have to be OK losing Trey or Herb with BI for Lauri and I’m not sure if the org is good with parting with either one. I also cringe at that front court defensively. But obviously drool thinking about the offense.

Griffin reported we're moving to an anti-big roster.

BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

For reasons highlighted by Pelicanidae, it would be a bad move in my opinion.

Are we all pretending that Willie Green doesn't coach this team. Now way in hell is Griffin going to hand Willie Lauri to pair next to Zion. No rebounding, no rim protection, and no preventing players from getting to the rim. Zion doesn't pass the ball out enough to make up for what we're going to lose in the above categories.
