Always loved Ingles would be a great addition to this team... i know a few years back he was good defensively, haven't seen much from him lately is he still good at that end?

  2. #1377
Damn so supposedly the Lakers are after Buddy Hield. If that happens and they win the title next year, that will be 3 players that played here together that won a ring in the last 3 years. That was our hopeful big 3 when we took Buddy too.

Ingles can be a bulldog on defense and a real pain in the ******....I would also love to see him in a Pel’s jersey....

Let's not forget E'Twaun and Galloway. I guess the Gentry System didn't suit any of them.

Am I the only one who thinks Duncan Robinson is not a good target for this team to acquire?

This team needs some defensive specialists. Proper 3 and D types

Yeah. If we only would have offered Solomon Hill and a 2nd for LeBron or Giannis....it could have been us.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

He's not some hellacious individual defensive stopper or anything, but he plays very good team defense and he uses his size to maximise that. Definitely a perfectly respectable defensive piece.
    Basketball.

Yeah, rolling into the season with something like Lowry/NAW/Ingram/Zion/JV as the starting 5, with Ingles as a 6 man, that's the makings of a legit playoff team imo.
Yes to this. This would make for a great offseason coming in w/ a great team.

With all this Ingles talk, has anyone checked on Fletcher?

    Fletch's dream off-season:

    - Sign Joe Ingles into cap space
    - Use 17th pick on Kispert
    - S&T Lonzo for Lauri
    - Beg Redick to come back for the min
    - See if we can get some kind of Hart-for-Connaughton trade going on
    - 1-for-1 swap BI for Duncan Robinson
    - Move NAW for Tyler Herro
    - Kira traded for Ryan Arcidiacono

    It's a mystery.

I really like the idea of Ingles coming off the bench with Kira. I don't think Kira is ready to carry the offensive load for a bench unit just yet, but Ingles can still take a good chunk of that playmaking responsibility, especially if *fingers crossed* paired with a roll man like Jaxson Hayes.

Obviously the main draw of Ingles is his ability to hit the corner 3, but 4.7 assists per game is legit from a 27 mpg guy. I'd foresee that number going up with the Pels if he's leading the bench unit.

I would love to have the 'in your face' leadership that he would bring to the table.

Might be the skill most lacking for this team the past 2 seasons. Lowry and Ingles would immediately bring so much leadership.

    Totally agree....

    As it has played out:

    - Favors was a simply a player who never bought in
    - Redick was a 'train wreck' (I'm being extraordinarily kind)
    - Adams was an affable guy who had a 'Pollyanna Way' about him that didn't relate
    - Bledsoe was the antheses of what a leader is

Actually (by default) JJ, and Naji tried to fill that role to some extent, but the train was so far off the track by the time they were assimilated into the mix that it was like spitting into a gale force wind.

It just makes so much sense. I also agree that his secondary playmaking (particularly in the PnR - where he has historically been dominant alongside Favours) is extremely easy to imagine pushing this team just that little bit farther.

    Hand over the Ingles, Utah.

Joe Ingles over the last 5 years:

    11/4/4.6 on 53% from 2, 43% from 3 (on 9 attempts per 100), 77% from the FT line.

    61.3%TS, +1.9 BPM (including a positive DBPM), 10.8 VORP
    23%AST

Average of +4.0 on/off over those 5 years, including a peak of +7.3 last year.

His efficiency from different locations on the floor last season:
    73% at the rim
    50.6% from 3-10ft
    57.1% from 10-16ft
    33.3% from 16ft-3pt line
    45.1% from 3

    Last season he was ranked:
    - 24th in the league in EPM at +3.2 (including 102nd in D-EPM, +0.8), just behind Trae Young and just ahead of Ben Simmons
    - 50th in the league in RAPTOR at +2.5 (including 99th in D-RAPTOR at +0.5, just behind new Pelican Jonas Valanciunas), which is just head of Myles Turner, just behind OG Anunoby
    - 55th in the league in LEBRON at +1.54 (not top 100, but still positive in D-LEBRON at +0.1), which is just ahead of Ja Morant, DeMar DeRozan and Paul Millsap, just behind Mikal Bridges, and Donovan Mitchell

So there's at least some argument that he's a top 60 player, and one of the league's best roleplayers. Just being able to add him to the roster would be huge if it could be done.

Here’s my master plan. We sneak Davion Mitchell in Donovan’s place tonight. They’ll never notice it. And we just like…place Donovan on the roster.

I am now going to be extremely disappointed if we don't land Ingles. He's the perfect fit
