Thread: March 12th - New Orleans Pelicans VS Cleveland Cavaliers - 15-22

We score 69 points scored in the first half and starting guards have scored three on 1 for 7 shooting. SMH

    Triple treat Zion

So no one shows up on the board tonight, and the Pels lead by 36 after three periods. Outscores Cle by a combined 59-28 score in the 2nd and 3rd periods. If no one is here to follow the game, do they really win?

I couldn't catch it live. Got it recording going to watch it in a bit.

Live reaction to the Pels game by game is probably what it feels like to have bipolar disorder.

Man, this team is unreal. I have been in awe at the defense all night. Even BI contested shots. What’s it going to take for them to do the same thing against LAC? The energy tonight was all 48 minutes.

Another good game from Jaxson and NAW.

Where the folks trashing last year's draft at? Be consistent don't disappear.

They need to be consistent as well

Some of the numbers tonight were pretty crazy. Zion with 23 points in 18 minutes. Adams with 17 rebounds in 21 minutes.

As 2nd year players in a very odd year? Ok.

A game like this makes the coaching decisions by Stan look bad. The rotation should have looked like this all year. The young guys should play as much as possible. Especially, Kira, Naw, & Jax.

I would agree if second year players were never consistent, but it’s on the coach.

They really needed to win, because the next 8 games are UGGLLYY.

Biggest take away from tonight - Pels actually can play defense when they want to

  15. #40
    This team is weiiiiiird

If we ever get a guard that can penetrate consistently (hopefully Kira becomes that), Jax becomes infinitely more valuable. The guy always rolls to the basket. That energy needs to be rewarded.

*In fairness, Valanciunas was at the very end of that 16 year period, you might count that as going into year 17, but either way, at least 4 top 5 picks in that span.
Aww, Bargnani. Almost completely forgot about his NBA existence. One of the more entertaining busts OAT, to be sure

Why do I feel like we are going to be a mediocre team for the next 5 years? Why do I feel like I'm one of the few Pelican fans who thinks long term with this franchise?

I hope we lose everyone of them and it saves this franchise from being a team that peaks at being a 6 seed and lose Zion in 6 years. We need one more all star like young talent on this team. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR???? Smh I need a break from this team. Cleveland let me down and wtf does Garland NEVER plays?!?

As things stand, without a huge influx of talent via a perfect bounce of ping pongs or some young player making a leap into All-a star level talent, that’s where we’ll relegated.

Crazy to think right? Like with this core of young guys, they have all this talent, but I have NO faith in them ever figuring it out not based on their talent, but more so their DNA and makeup. Of course players can grow to get better, but can players actually learn how to play through adversity, care about defense, etc?

This draft class has a least 3 players IMO that can and will come in be leaders from day one. The last time I felt that was Hailiburton and we lucked out.

All I'm saying is that it's past talent with this team. I want freaking leaders, and this team winning will give the false alert with the FO that this core should stay entact, which will results in Zo overpay, and a screwed cap to bring in better guys.

Like I see NO silver light in us winning and getting in the play in tournament this year. This team doesn't have the character to "build on success" because they have shown multiple times that lack the essential resources to win which is consistency, effort, and defense.

I hope you’re wrong so bad! But, I know you’re right.

I think you are right and this team lacks a true leader. I don't think BI is that type of guy. I could see Zion develop to that, just too young to say. At this point, he might be the one needing pushing at times. If not him, I think you can bring in a guy that commands the locker room and gets the guys to push when they are slacking on D, etc. I agree with others that bringing in CP3 would have been the right type of guy. Adams and Bledsoe (supposedly) had the right kind of attitudes but they won't push the team. They're one good move from getting a field general to turn this team into a playoff shoo-in imo. I don't feel great about finding that in the draft though.

Without making a big move (or big luck in the draft) I think you can only hope Zion develops into a guy that won't take the team's inconsistency anymore and demands high energy to win games.

Overall I don't see it as a lost hope. More that they are developing a clearer picture of what they need.
