This trade works, but Knicks and Nets would both need picks and I don't know where those picks come from. Houston doesn't have many and I don't want to give away too many of ours.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7tb6p4d

Knicks get Asik, Quarterman, Onuaku, pick(s)
    Nets get Anderson, Moore, pick(s)
    Rockets get Melo
    Pels get Lin, Lee

So we get two good players and all it cost was a decent player and dumping Asik's $32 Million without picks?
Why would NY do this again?
Why would Brooklyn lose an asset to take on $84 Million in salary?

If we are able to get rid of Asik, one first round pick lightly protected and another heavily would be ok with me.

This trade also wouldn't upset me, provided the Pels were only giving up 1 pick.

    Pels get Lee, Jackson, Marjonovic
Knicks get poopoo platter of waiver candidates: Asik, Ajinca, QPon, 2Panes, Quarterman, Onuaku, picks
    Rockets get Melo
    Pistons get Anderson, Moore

If what was on the bird writes was correct, we don't have enough of the MLE available to even match that offer. I believe they said somewhere around 4.3 per year is all we can offer.

Our best chance for a good player will be a trade.

Obviously for picks. Picks would have to come from Rockets and Pels.

Also, I'm not sure how or why some have inflated the cost of acquiring Jeremy Lin, who was hurt most of last year. It should not cost a 1st to get Lin.

Is it true that WWL radio is reporting Ryno may be returning back to New Orleans? Not sure if it's true since I'm not in new Orleans but word was it was mentioned on the radio.

What about a different thought process. Orlando Magic. They have 4 identicals at 2-3 . Anybody like Hezonja ? They have Fournier, Ross, Herzonja & Payton at wing. The roster is Full of guards. Thoughts?

It just seems like Rockets are not giving up enough in proposed trades. They are the ones needing to obtain 3rd and 4th teams to make a trade work. Their picks are I think limited and assets such as Cappella would have to go out. Knicks really don't need to trade him at this point and want assets. Reports are they don't want Anderson (http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/07/12/...anthony-trade/). We have nothing to offer really. Will be interesting trade if it goes through.

No one in their right mind would want Anderson and that albatross of a contract. I rather asik rotting on the pine for the next 3 years fully guaranteed.

Agreed, I really hope it isn't us getting him.

Carmelo's no trade clause doesn't really give the Knicks much leverage. The fear for them is that in this market, Melo opts in next year. No one else is going to pay him close to the $28m he's owed. In order to trade him, they're going to have to match salary. For the Knicks, a bunch of non guaranteed, expirings, and buy out candidates might be the best they can hope for with the addition of a pick, or 2.

Exactly. Not like the guy is how Kobe was to the Lakers. I bet the Knicks are trying to find ways to get rid of him so they can get a clean slate. Especially since Melo has failed to recruit the talent he touted he could get. I think Melo is warming up to being the recruited.

The Knicks are in a WORSE position than the Pacers were with Paul George. The Knicks are going to get as many buyout/expiring guys as they can get, and hope they also get an asset/pick. They're done with Carmelo, and the worst case scenario for them is him option into his 2018/19 contract at $28m.

The Knicks owe Melo $54m. Doing this deal could save them $20m or more. That's not an insignificant thing.

Makes sense with creating a clean slate for the Knicks. We just can't be that salary dump for Anderson.

  21. #2071
I'm hearing that about Anderson also but I just don't know how or why we would take him back with that contract but Joel Myers stated earlier that we had something up our sleeve for a shooter I just hope Ryno isn't it . I like RA just not that contract .

I would take either the lin or jackson trade and be ecstatic for the season. Courtney Lee is that shooter we need too.

I think if the Pelicans are going to help a division rival get a player like Carmelo, I think they've got to get a something good out of the deal.

I was thinking taking Anderson back wouldn't be so bad if we moved Asik AND Hill's contract in that same trade. One goes to Hou, other to NY. Knicks could get two solid SF's back in Hill and Ariza. Then I remembered how atrocious Anderson is on defense.

Question of fit. Anderson is Anderson, but as a spacer for a twin tower set he becomes much much more valuable. And since you would be giving up at least 1 huge dead money contract in the deal, there's a lot of upside to such a deal.

    Cousins
    Davis
    Anderson
    Diallo
    spare center

frontcourt becomes really complete in a hurry.

And with Ryno able to swing down to SF to be an anti-Hill in behemoth Cousins/Davis/Anderson frontcourt sets, you can create some very potent lineups.
