so basically its trade for a guard or nothing this year, or maybe late in the season make a trade. nothing really out there now in FA.

can we win 45 games with JH, EM, SH, AD, DC ? bench assuming cook, crawford, diallo, AA, miller

even if we pull off a trade, bench is light.

This happened to me a few times with the Saints games before Drew Brees - so it can change

Free agent Thabo Sefolosha has agreed to a two-year, $10.5M deal with the Utah Jazz, league sources tell The Vertical.

I believe that things can change and I am actually sure the city will support Pelicans once they start winning but I dont believe you the same thing happened to you with the Saints

I was a Saints season ticket holder from 2006 to 2016. I was a college student when I got them. They were insanely cheap. They were practically having to give then away.

Also, growing up in Lake Charles, the local channel actually showed Cowboy games over Saints games.

So I believe it. If this team starts winning consistently, and they are setting themselves up to do so, the city will become a Pels city.

I'm upset about this one. I think he could have really helped us.

    Same.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Yeah, that's just bs. Even in the Saints darkest days, the city was obsessed with them.

A preseason game for the Saints probably draws a bigger number than a Pels playoff game.

Of course it does based simply on the available seats.

Prior to Katrina, Saints games NEVER sold out. Each week you'd cross your fingers and hope and pray for a corporate sponsor to buy out the remaining tickets so the game wouldn't be blacked out.

Here's the best trade I can come up with. It's a four teamer so there's no way it would happen
    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7rvfqvm

Houston gets Melo, loses only Ryno (There's almost no way for them to get Melo without losing Ryno). I don't mind helping Houston get Melo because I don't think they'll be a threat. I think they'll be about as good as last year and be an overrated team that performs about as well as they did last year unless they pull off some other magic. Houston is thin but they could play a pretty nice death-light lineup of CP3, Harden, Ariza, Melo, and Capela that should be able to score whenever they want. Their defense is just as subject as it was last year and although I can see how the offense could work, there are a lot of guys that want to operate in very different ways and I don't get how that would work. I'm sure they'd have to throw in a pick or something for the Knicks to accept it since the Knicks are crazy and can't seem to ever decide what they're doing, even though they should clearly be rebuilding around Porzingus (who I think is vastly overrated but he's their best shot). I actually kind of like the Knicks roster here. I would really like it if they hadn't signed Hardaway Jr to that ridiculous deal. Still I think they'd be a Rondo signing away from a playoff lock in the East:

    Rondo/Hardaway/Randle
    Lee/Ntilikina
    Dudley/Thomas
    Anderson/Onuaku/Long
    Porzingis/Noah/Ajinca

A lot of stretch shooting here with room to operate. Going from Rose and Melo, two players who wouldn't pass to Kristaps and then getting Rondo, a player who probably hurts your team by looking to pass too much, would be funny. Don't know if Hardaway would be upset at coming off the bench but I think the roster works better with defense, playmakers, and shooters around Porzingus and then allow Hardaway to play point for ~20mpg and let him throw up hot garbage and score 20ppg and hope the rest of the cast can play defense enough to tread water.

Phoenix dumps a ton of salary and gets a nice check from the other teams here who go into the tax. They owe Dudley $20 Million and instead pay $8 Million, maybe (but doubtfully) rehab and trade QPon at all star, and get a useful big they might be able to flip around all star as well.

We'd get rid of Ajinca and QPon's contracts while acquiring a player that can play center without being terrible and doesn't mind a bench role, and a guy (I remember thinking he was athletic) who shoots at the rim or from the three point line (decently) and can play stopgap SF. We basically traded two bench players who were unlikely to play well for two who could without killing ourselves with salary.

Then we go to Brooklyn and throw every future pick for Lin (my preferred PG target since he can hit a three and seems humble enough to not need to chuck shots while still being brave enough to take them) and Quincy Acy, who is kind of a Dante Cunningham player who can hit the corner three well and (from my memory) plays decent defense and is a passable rebounder. Still resign Cunningham if possible and our roster looks like this:

    Lin/Cook/Jackson
    Holiday/Crawford
    Hill/Acy/Kuzminskas
    AD/Diallo/Cunningham
    Cousins/O'Quinn/Asik

I think Brooklyn like Rondae Hollis Jefferson but I'd try and pry him if possible but wouldn't make the deal hinge on it. You hope Asik gets decent enough to move before having to pay Boogie but you probably have to stretch him but that team is probably around a 6th seed (if healthy) and might win a playoff game for the first time since 2010.

Seems like Pelicans want to be apart of the Melo to Houston trade? No indication on players though.

    I'd love Ariza here
Perhaps he is old, but his year here was the last year we had a good SF.
Add Ariza and Jackson and things would look bettee

    Ditto.

My best guess, we're giving up the pick that is needed, hopefully offloading Asik, and getting back Courtney Lee who is no longer needed in New York. The 4th team has to take Anderson?

I don't see this getting done. Too complicated. And I don't see how the Rockets do it without ditching Anderson and no one wants Anderson. Not enough picks in this deal to ditch Anderson and satisfy Knicks.

  24. #2049
I don't see how Rockets only giving up anderson. Would expect someone like cappella to be going to knicks? Also Anderson to Pistons would make sense, seems like a Van Gundy guy. We could be getting Jackson and giving up salary to Knicks with Detroit and Houston giving up assets?

Any rumors as to who the 4th team is?
