NOLA potential landing spot for Larry Sanders?

"Two NBA officials contacted Thursday both said some team will likely sign Sanders to a pro-rated salary for somewhere around $300,000 for the rest of the season. Asked which teams could be potential landing spots for Sanders, the officials mentioned Dallas, Houston, Boston, New Orleans and Minnesota."

Could we sign another minimum salary big? Is this our team building style now?

Boston and Houston are the logical choices if he's concerned about winning sooner than later. But we're no worse or better than Dallas or Minny right now. And Minny is kind of good on bigs.

If he's ready to earn his NBA stripes again? I'm all for it. Give me something else to root for besides the development of Hield and Diallo.

Pass. I would rather give the minutes to DMo and hopefully eventually Diallo rather than someone with his baggage.

Fine, forget about the character issues. What makes him so good that we should take away time from DMo or Diallo?

To be fair Diallo doesn't exactly play and for some odd reason gentry prefers Jones over dmo so he wouldn't be taking that many mins away from either

He wouldn't get minutes this year anyway. If DMo was out of shape, what do you think Sanders will be?

Time doesn't just mean minutes during a game. They are reps in practice or one on one drills with coaches, so on and so forth. Why give any of those to him over DMo or Diallo?

Not saying you do but again who the hell knows what's going through gentrys head

With Diallo on the roster and the season more than halfway done, I would only sign a needle mover (even slightly) at this point. Don't think Sanders is one.

Take your lumps, start jockeying for lotto position. This team desperately needs an athletic, 6'8" wing and an athletic, body moving big so AD can slide back over to 4.

    Not happening this year.

I say sign him and give him all the minutes at center. That way we ensure a top 5 pick.

Im willing to give him a chaance, what he did is kinda messed up but its not like Vick, and i was willing to forgive him after he served his time. Might just be a product of his environment and if he shows that he's not the same man then i thinks its unfair to just predetermine him as a "bad egg". Yuge upside if it works out

Look, even if he had never done anything wrong -- What is the appeal???

I swear, every time a guy is available to sign or be traded for people want to add that guy. If this message board got to be GM, the NBA would have to raise the roster size to 127

Btw Larry Sanders has been said to be out of shape and ro be in bad basketball shape.
You are a better person than me. There was a couple out here stealing dogs from yards, breeding them, then killing them. I tried to find them for a while and my plan was to kill them in a pretty brutal way. Not even ashamed to admit that and I still would if they hadn't stopped. Never found them

Lol after admitting my horrible dog experience, I feel qualified to ask, are you one those folks who believe dogs matter more then humans? Ive heard fair arguments from both sides from cultural ideologies, to animal cruelty and innocence, to Darwinism.

And Sanders will stunt the growth of Diallo, so for that I'll pass.

personally, I can't see any reason to bring sanders in (maybe if we traded away Jones and Ajinca - even then I'd rather dMo and Diallo got the minutes and he rode the pine/gave a body to fight in training). we already have centers to use if we want to tank.

Getting away from all Sanders personal issues (and there are far more than the dogs), does anybody have a counter to this? Just from a basketball standpoint, how does it help? I can't even make the argument if I tried

Honestly I think this all stems from Whiteside coming back successfully. People were clamoring for him at one point and then he gets a chance with the Heat and is successful. Now people see Sanders and think maybe he has the same comeback and suddenly gives us the presence we need at the Center position. I don't view Sanders the same. He isn't a young guy that put on weight grew into his body and worked his way back. This is a diffraction beast. He was a guy who had all the tools physically but didn't care about the game. Now he wants back in but what's to stop him from getting bored again once his pockets get heavy.

And for every Whiteside there are 97 guys who sign and show you why they were out of work in the first place. But that's reality. Or what optimists call "pessimism"

Hey, I take offense to that lol I'm an optimist and I don't call that pessimism that's just reality

Reportedly, the Celtics were not particularly impressed with Sanders performance at his workout in Boston.

I literally just don't understand the interest. We don't have a real need in the front court. Half our roster are pure big men, and we can't keep him long term.

To me why get him when I doubt we play him plus we have too many bigs that we don't play already. Now if we move a couple players including a big and had a spot to fill but I'd only sign him if he came for this year and next with an opt out for next year. Then he becomes a nice trade asset even if it's to trade and they cut him to save money.

I respect all of those that wouldn't give him a shot in nola.
Personally, I'd have to speak with him about things such as his past and present to to assess wether he is worth it.
But from a basketball standpoint, if he is properly motivated, id do it.
we need talented players. Period. We got two bums at C and D-MO who is not a starting caliber center. If the pels still covet the idea of AD as a PF then why not take a chance on a guy who undoubtedly could be a starting caliber C if he can get his head right (have to be determined in meeting)
