Man I can't wait. So it looks like we can get either 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, with 8 possibly being the worst we can get. IMO I want 1,2, or 6. I don't want 3 cause I'd be worried we take Dragan Bender there. I think at 6 we almost lock into one of my top 5 players. If we end up with 6, I hope the 76ers and Lakers get the top 2 picks. If the Lakers don't get a top 3 pick then that pick will go to the 76ers and possibly screw everything up. The Celtics, Suns, and T-wolves don't really need any guards, so one will likely take Bender and the other 2 could take Ellenson or even Brown. But since I want Dunn the most, I would hope it goes like this:

    1. 76ers - Simmons
    2. Lakers - Ingram
    3. Celtics - Bender
    4. Suns - Murray
    5. T-wolves - Hield
    6. Pels - Dunn

Draft Express now has us taking.

    6. Jamal Murray
    39. AJ Hammons - C- Purdue
    40. Thon Maker - PF - HS

If this happened, I wouldn't be upset.

I wouldn't mind that draft. I also wouldn't mind this draft either.

As long as we end up with either Simmons, Ingram, Dunn, Hield, or Murray I will be happy with our draft. So if we got lucky to get third pick, we better not take Bender. I would take Kris Dunn there at 3rd cause he's my best player not named Simmons or Ingram. If we draft right in the second round, we could possibly end up with some good role players. I would rather take upper classmen in the 2nd round cause those seem to be the players that end up making a difference. I just hope we don't trade the picks away for cash. Now if we traded both to get back at the end of the first that would be cool with me. Plenty of good upper classmen that will be there in the second though.

They have us passing on Buddy Hield?

I'm not a fan of that.

Please share why you think Dunn is the third best player?

I just think he is the 3rd best player from what I've seen of all the players in this draft. I think Kris Dunn is a better all around player than anyone else besides the other 2. I believe he can play both guard positions. He is one of the better playmakers I've seen in college for a few years. The way he handles the ball and the passes he makes are NBA level for sure. Now he does turn it over and can get out of control, but you can say that for a lot of players that have that much ability in college when they are the best player on the court most nights. He won't be that in the NBA, so he won't try to put the team on his shoulders night in and night out. I think he will get better and better as a shooter cause his shot just looks too good to not get there. I think Simmons and him have the highest Bball IQ in the whole draft at this moment. I like his defense, but he can get into foul trouble often. The games I've seen him play, he never took a play off and was constantly hustling. Plus I like that he's older cause I want to win ASAP so we can try to keep AD long term. I think him and AD together will be AWESOME!! I think he has a higher ceiling than Hield & Murray. To me he just has that star quality about him, so I don't see him busting! One of the safest players in the draft.

At first it was Buddy Hield, but after watching more of Dunn I flipped. I just think he's more of a one dimensional player. I feel like his ceiling JJ Redick or Bradley Beal. I hope if we take him though he can even be better. Now Murray is a little of a wild card, cause he can be really good too. So I got Murray & Hield about even. I just love that shot on Hield! He is by far the best college shooter I've ever seen. But one of the other best I've seen was Jimmer Fredette lol. Dragan Bender could be the best for all I know. If he's the next Dirk then it's him, but they been looking for the next Dirk for a decade.

For me I can see Dunn's comfort when it comes to the final moments. He's not afraid to take a big shot in a big moment. And he's a playmaker through and through. He's also probably the best two way player in the whole draft.

He's everything Jrue Holiday is, but I can see him become a much better player.

If we ended up with Bradley Beal from this draft I'd be super happy. AD, Jrue, and Beal would be a solid core to build around.

That's not to say I prefer one player over the other, I haven't focused on the players much at all this year. Just saying, if we end up with a Beal caliber player then I think this year will have been worth it.

I agree with everything you say, I love Buddy as well, but i fear he maybe one dimensional and in our position we have to go big or go home. I also agree Dunn as certain special "it" factor about him. I just worry about his injury history and our medical staff. The last thing we need is another injury riddled player.

    But my big board is:

1.Ingram ( Huge upside, but can also bust, chances of that happening all depends on the system he goes too)

2.Simmons ( Easily the most talented in draft, but i truly question these "new age AAU " players level of passion for the game to dominate)

    3. Dunn ( Just like Ingram, but he also has red flags with injuries, turnover prone, and inconsistant shot. He fixes those and he is a top 5 PG/SG in 3 years)

4.Heild ( GIGANTIC boom or bust potential)

5.Murray ( Super Wildcard, can end up being the best player from the draft or the biggest disappointment from it)

6.Bender (If this kid puts it all togehter, the Pelicans can have the new era "Twin Towers", but the odds of that happening is 35-40 percent IMO)

If we were to draft Ingram or Simmons and they were a bust nobody would say a thing cause they seem the most likely to not bust. That is why I'm in the trade down if we can't get either of those 2 players. So many question marks but if you can trade for a player and pick or 2 picks that don't drop to far, that is the way to go. I think unless that player is really good I have to have a pick back. Looking at Silverfoxx top 5 we could possibly trade down a few spots and get Brown or Luwawu and another prospect.

But if we were picking 6, its Simmons, Ingram, Murray, Brown, Heild, Luwawu, then Dunn (and its mostly injury concern for me).

I don't think there's ever been a year when we had a 1st round pick and I just couldn't decide who we should pick... I know it depends on position, but assuming we're 3-6.

Bender, Dunn, Murray, Brown (if he declares), Hield???

I'm least excited about Hield, but I'm liking the potential of the other guys, but not the measurables...

I just don't want to be saying 1-3 yeas later, man I wish we had taken that or one of those guys instead...

Bender has the highest ceiling without question. He has Porzingas potential as a shooter/defender with the ball handling of a wing and the passing of a Blake Griffin or Antetokounmpo.

He is just very young and very raw but his ceiling is as high as Simmons or Ingram. Though most see him as a NBA PF so it might not be the best fit for Davis.

Dunn, Murray, Brown and Hield all have borderline all star potential IMO but Hield seems to have the highest floor. Which I think has to be enticing to our front office.

If both PF's can be rim protectors, then there is no need for a center. This holds true for Bender and Davis; problem is Davis doesn't want to play center.

I've often wondered what Davis would do if a PF that was just too good to sit or trade somehow just fell into our laps. Would he change his stance on this?

If Bender becomes available to us, I think we take him due to Dell and his background from SAS. I know he goes on European scouting trips, but not sure how often.

I think Porz's success is probably going to make him the #3 pick and we'd have to trade up...

Bender/AD is just too much potential to pass up. We can address wings with the 2nds or FA.

    hmmmmm

    Dragan Bender
    Deandre Bembry/Patrick Mccaw/Melo Trimble
    Dorian-Finney Smith/ Paul Zipser

    It would be interesting

Bender has the highest ceiling because the least is known about him. He also has the lowest floor..... As in, he might never set foot on the NBA court type floor. Dude just hasn't shown anything that makes me think we should risk drafting him.

He has the highest ceiling because he is an incredible physical specimen that is showing promise in pretty much every area that can translate well to the modern up tempo, ball movement type of basketball. He is raw, needs to put on weight, continue developing his stroke and scoring moves and grow his basketball awareness. So he isnt someone a team can expect to contribute for at least another year minimum. Even then it will likely be minimally.

You are right he has a huge chasm of landing spots from huge bust to superstar. Which is why he won't go 1 or 2 but likely no later then 4 or 5. If he pans out he would be one of the best running mates in the front court you could conjure up for Davis outside of maybe KAT.

I pray Bender is picked before us so we don't even have the chance to make that decision. I have looked and watched everything I can on him and nothing is that exciting. The players he has played against are an absolute joke. If he was some deadeye shooter I could maybe see it but he isn't even that. He shows some nice passes at times but that is just a plus for a big man not something we really need.

This kid is the pick for us. He's going to be a superstar and fits Gentrys system perfectly while filling a huge need. Has as much potential as any player in this draft. If you actually really look into him instead of hearing what someone said they didn't like I believe you will come away really wanting this kid. With his coaches and older teammates raving about his hard work and basketball IQ he has taken another step up in my book. What you need from a kid like this is hard work and if he's willing to we could have the next Leonard/Butler SG/SF to take this team to the next level. Now I'm just going to be disappointed if we don't take this kid if he's available for our picks outside the top 2.
