    Draft Prospects Discussion

Thought we could have a thread for people to discuss multiple draft options. I've been trying to get a bit more information on guys not slated to be lottery picks, never know we may be able to swing a trade for a mid-late first rounder as well as having a (as of now) top 7 pick.

Heres a couple of guys I think could be real 'Gentry' players (why only 1 video allowed per post?).

Both guys are great 3pt shooters, have a few years of college ball behind them, hopefully pretty smart players as a result, and guys around AD's age.

Prince seems to be the type of high energy guy this team desperately needs.

How is Denzel Valentine on defense? Why is he not higher up? Every time I watch him he makes great plays

  6. #6
From what ive seen he seems like a very good defender. Maybe he is low because of his lack of athleticism?

I feel like Denzel Valentine is the player Tyreke Evans needs to be. I don't know why but I just see a player simular to Tyreke, but he's just smarter, and a better shooter.

Would love to get Valentine. Been high on him all season. I think he would be a great fit for us at the SG position either starting or similiar to a Ginobli role off the bench. His skill set and athleticism reminds me a lot of Ginobli. You need guys like Valentine to win.

Valentine & Hield would be an amazing haul from this draft, if he slips into the Denver 2nd rounder range (doubtful) but i'd be trying to trade for him on draft night. He has great offensive awareness, excellent catch and shoot player, works hard off the ball, and is not a raw project. I'm not sure how he is defensively though.

Kris Dunn is good, but this guy is right there with him. And he is better than Buddy Heild. Reminds me of seeing Damien Lilliard's highlights in the sense that he has it all-

    right
    left
    hesitation with both
    strong with both
    shoots lights out
    unbelievable passer

    composure of CP3

Melo Tremble? Hmmm I wonder why he is not a projected top 10 pick

I Trimble at the thought of Bacon. Lol kidding I like them both and would be a good haul if we got both. I'd grab Devin Robinson from Florida late to develop.

Agree, i like bacon, very long athletic sg and he's 6'7

Not crazy about him. Seems raw like a long project. I see some Reke in him, then I see some Jimmy Butler in him. Can't figure it out

Yeah, projected to go late teens early 20s, i think the upside is worth the risk. I would take valentine before him tho.

Valentine is going to be a stud and someone who would be great for this team. He is the next Ginobli just a better rebounder. He brings you what Draymond Green does just from the SG/SF position instead of the PF/SF. Would love to have him come off the bench for this team. Someone I would definitely try to move back in the draft for if he falls in the late teens range. If he test well at the combine he could shoot up draft boards though similiar to what Lillard did.

For the same reason Marvin Williams went ahead of Chris Paul

Cause people get it wrong sometimes.

That being said, draftexpress.com has him going at #16 as of now. People underestimate how hard it is to have a full arsenal of moves with either hand, especially a hesitation move and such because it demands total ball control and comfort.

19.3 ppg, 6 assists and 5 rebounds a game vs. ranked teams (#9,#11,#3)

I too like Bacon. In fact, Bacon was a favorite of mine as the year started. But Trimble's game totally translates; say what you will, but he plays with the confidence, composure and skill of CP3 while he was in school.

10 years from now Trimble will be a top 5 player from the 2016 draft . Bank on it

Have to disagree with this. I have to give valentine a lot of credit I could see him becoming that good of a passer (but probably not as creative). But Ginobili could get to the basket at a level Valentine will never be at. I think his upside is Danny Green meets the good Lance Stevenson. AKA solid third - 4th best player on a team.

And what about Furkan Korkmaz and Timothé Luwawu ? Both are 6'7 SG/SF who can shoot and have impressive bounce, also since we have Asik and Ajinca, both could be helped by fellow countryman in their transition into the NBA lifestyle.

I would like Furkan but not Luwawu. I think we can get a better player though. We'll probably get the 11th-13th pick.

I think you mean Deron Williams.

Marvin was 2nd. Deron 3rd in that draft.
Then went Paul. People are wrong with their draft choices.

The same this year. Everybody wants unknown. Not everybody know how to draft.
    Dont screw it Dell...

For the record, I'm a huge fan of Melo Trimble, but if Diamond Stone is still there we need him.

People that think we are going to draft a guard are possibly right -- Demps is pretty dumb.

But we need to draft a big man that can do what Asik did in Houston before Dwight got there. It's much easier to sign a competent guard than it is a big man, and they are much more expensive.

The NBA draft is not for those who pick for certain positions it is for those who are smart enough to realize that you go with a guy who has the best chance of succeeding and being a contributor to your roster. For a guard Trimble has virtually no chance of being a bust.
Id be happy w him and either
    Furkan
    Lawai
    2ns
    Barlor's Prince or wisconsins guy

Id even take the 2 small school PF's that are lighting it up 8n the 2nd
