Although that makes sense, why is that predictable? We thought he would do that last offseason and he chose to anoint Evans as our SF.

From my POV, the second this season ends we no longer have any negative chips. Just positive ones. And possibly really good ones if Gordon and Ryno play well in these final 29 games/continue to get healthier.

Patience. AD is 21, not 28. This is just the beginning of the run with him, not the end.
    Well said bro

I don't think anyone is worried about AD somehow declining in the next few years, but instead that he'll get tired of the ineptitude of the management, coaching, and (apparently) medical staff.

Can you see him being a Pel his whole career? I don't know.

If we aren't very good and contending by 2019, then no. But that is 20 freaking 19. The panic at the beginning of 2015 is a little early. Thats all I am saying.

How badly do we need to screw it up for that to happen? With AD in his prime how bad would the team around him have to be for us not to be at least the 4th or 5th seed? Unless Jrue's injury is truely chronic, which I will admit I am a little worried about, I just don't see it.

Back to the topic - Norris Cole.

It is easy to pick apart his shooting numbers, especially this year. But here's my point:

When you are bringing in a guy, you should focus on the numbers of the things he will be asked to do. He will be asked to play on-ball defense and be a facilitator. He excels in those two areas, either by eye test or numbers. He will effect 25-40 overall possessions per game when you combine both ends of the court. He might take 4 shots. If we use his scoring numbers as a gauge, then him going 2-4 would make him a god and 1-4 makes him a scrub.

Does that make sense to anyone? That is one shot, one possession over the course of an entire game. Or one out of his 40 possessions. Is that really the difference between him being a god or a scrub? Of course not.

If we were asking him to come in and be a scorer off the bench, his shooting numbers would scare me. But his streaky shooting worries me about as much as Drew Brees tackling form.

    Norris Cole to Pels

How about we watch cole play a couple games for the pels before we judge him? A different scenery/role can do wonders for a player. Look at QPon for example, he barely got off the bench for memphis comes here plays big minutes and excels. I know stats and analytics say one thing, but a new system, better team, and different role on the team can change all of those stats. We have watched Jimmer so we know what he can do in a pels uniform.

The trade is a "win" for me considering we gave up basically just a contract. Salmons was useless as a player. If Cole contributes even just on defense, he is an improvement over Salmons.

So it sounds like out of the trade we are keeping Cole and Hamilton right?

I hope so. It's not like he has to fly too far away

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Williams is listed on the roster at the Pelicans website too.

No... that's not at all what i said. The point was that Chalmers "started" on that squad, and played almost 30 minutes a game. MM made the case that Jimmer gets no significant back-up minutes at all on a Championship squad. Those are both very different things...

The hate on Jimmer on this board has gone too far - provoked by one major troll who was since banned. MM admitted as much on twitter yesterday that he unfairly dislike's Jimmer because of his fans (https://twitter.com/McNamara247/stat...21948311195649). Now I give him a break, because in his role, I bet he gets a lot of more that through twitter... but seriously.

But going back to the Heat, in 2012, Norris Cole played almost 20 minutes a game for them, shooting 39% (28% from 3), and 2 assists / .7 steals.

Not trying to argue who is better than who, just looking for some more explanation on MM's original point.

So, they have a chance to restart or adjust if they would like. This team is not weighed down by terrible contracts with no picks of their own like the Nets. They have the hardest piece to acquire - the mega star. The story is far from written. Drawing conclusions right now is getting far too ahead of ourselves.
I think people here are worried about becoming the Kings (not me I know/see the direction we are going and loving it minus the injuries). The Kings has Cousins who has been putting up numbers and isn't a mega star but comes close to being a super star when he puts his mind and matures in the art of basketball. But we are in no way shape or form going to stay where we are like the Kings have for years. We have the right staff and fan base to skyrocket us into conference finals talks in 2 or 3 years. Great info you throw out on here man. Thanks for knowledgeable constructive input.

The Jimmer fans are annoying, but if he was playing well I wouldn't care. My evaluation of him as a player has nothing to do with his fans. They have to do with his play, which is not good and is clearly inferior to Cole when you consider all aspects of the game.

If you're a smart basketball fan you never, ever say no to a defensive upgrade at PG when all you have to give up is Salmons...

    Wonderful.

Probably going to take a day or 2 to become official.
