This is picking up steam. Hope this isn't a fruitless rumor. To be rid of Gordon, get a center and a SF AND further bolster our bench would be a bloody coup.

I really hope this deal goes down. I would be ecstatic cause we would have room to add a decent small forward. If we could swing Eric Gordon for Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer or Chase Budinger, we wouldn't need to add anything except maybe a back up point guard not named Brian Roberts. Unless they believe Austin and/or Smith can play it or they start Martin with Reke coming off the bench there.
This 14 man roster would make the playoffs for sure IMO, assuming Young & Smith make it:
C: Asik, Ajinca, Withey
PF: AD, Ryno, Young
SF: Brewer, Miller, Babbitt
SG: Reke, Martin
PG: Jrue, Rivers, Smith
So now Brewer is coming? LOL man this would too good to be true. A starting 3 and a backup 2.
Dug into this some.
Trade constructed as a three team trade - HOU, NOP, MIN
NOP Receives
Omer Asik
Kevin Martin
Chase Budinger
HOU Receives
NOP 2015 1st (Protections, yadda yadda)
MIN Receives
Eric Gordon
Melvin Ely
This works financially. As does substituting Luc Mbah A Moute, J.J. Barea, or Corey Brewer for Budinger. Ideally it would be an expiring contract and not Budinger, but let's not get too picky.

Brewer is horrible he can't shot and can't defend
1-6
Also remember that the first time Dell Demps tried to trade Chris Paul to the Lakers that Kevin Martin was the best player projected to come to New Orleans.
"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin
Just digging into numbers. I was more interested in how that sets up the Pelicans cap going forward. Gosh if it isn't Martin and Budinger it would be glorious.
This sounds like BS to me. Trade on SG for another SG? One with a much worse contract who isn't even that good of a player. Just so they could have one year less on a contract? That doesn't even seem like a good reason to me.
For the couple of people who said they wouldn't want this, I cant even imagine the argument against it. I mean, we were okay with stretching him and eating 6 mil per for the next 5 years. Even if Martin never plays a minute, he eats 7 mil a year for the next 3. And that is the absolute worst case scenario.
If this is on the table, it should take Dell between .0000000001 and .00000000002 seconds to say yes
@mcnamara247
martin played an off the bench role in OKC aswell, so he should be fine being 6th man.
I know this has to be real because Wolves fans are cool with this deal and usually fans of other team say "We dont want Gordon he's over paid trash"![]()
