Watching the spurs play ball is a thing of beauty. It really is.
Spurs better be happy LBJ left the game early. They were on the way to being down 0-1. Miami shouldn't be down about this loss and the Spurs shouldn't be excited about this win.
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.
ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding
These words should not be used lightly
The flip side of the coin is the Spurs had 23 turn overs. As soon as they stopped shooting themselves in the foot they started winning. The LBJ going out thing sucked for Miami to keep up the scoring but I don't know that him being in the game would have been enough. The Spurs offense was just clicking as soon as they stopped throwing the ball into Miami's players hands.
i love van gundy as the announcer. he is definitely entertaining![]()
It would have been far more damaging if this happened in Miami. They can still split in San Antonio.
"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I don't think so. Most of those turnovers were mental errors. I don't think you can tie them to LeBron and the defense. Tons of cross court passes that were ill-advised. Pop is going to get on them about it. I don't expect 23 turnovers next game.
With LeBron on the court they had already caught up. It was the 23 turnovers where they threw the ball away that was the issue. The Spurs missed 2 shots in the 4th. 2. The whole team.
LBJ there or not wasn't going to stop them from winning the game. It would have been closer, but Miami still loses the game.
Has nothing to do with The Spurs getting hot and going 14/16 and 6/6 from 3 in the 4th. LeBron played almost 5 minutes in the 4th before the cramps and didn't stop them.
Like I said. LeBron or no LeBron wouldn't matter once the other team got that hot.
I agree once LeBron got the cramps the Heat had no chance. But I just happen to believe they had no chance at all even with him with that shooting.
I doubt the Spurs can stay that hot going forward though.
The Heat play tough D when LeBron is in. But it isn't like LeBron had a dozen steals. A lot of the Spurs turnovers were just bad basketball plays. Terrible passes. Dribbling into trouble.
Once they cleared them up and found their stroke from deep? Game was done. Irrelevant to speculate. We're gonna get game two, preferably with a working A/C. And we can pick up the debate then.
The thing about 3pt defense is that 3pt% defense is largely random between teams, but the better defensive teams just allow fewer attempts. My best guess as to why is because players generally won't shoot a 3 unless they feel comfortable with it so their shooting percentage stays the same. The thing to do on defense is to never let them feel comfortable taking that 3. IIRC, the Spurs were getting looks from 3 throughout the game.
1: 4/7
2: 3/7
3: 0/5
4: 6/6
Odds are the Spurs won't be that hot from 3 again (52%) but I don't see any reason why they can't keep getting 20+ of them up a game. They shot 21 a game at 40% during the regular season (comes out to ~8.5 makes a game). The Heat were allowing 24 3pa a game during the regular season, which was one of the worst marks in the league.
Saw this:
@netw3rk Air conditioning went out at the Bellagio once and MJ still played blackjack for 32 straight hours
If anybody thinks that all these to's for the Spurs is not because of the Heat's defense, they're not watching the games.
Every time Leonard puts the ball on the floor I cringe. For a guy who can spot up and defend he doesn't need to be trying to create and far too often he's gotten the ball late in the shot clock and asked to do something tonight.
