It's not like that many people of New Orleans are going either. The team is losing and the team is a shell of what we were supposed to be. Only the hardcore fans care enough to watch guys like rivers, miller, and Withey. Lol

Like my girlfriend said to me don't be critical of the no shows, be thankful for the ones that do show up. I guess that is the way I have to see it.

How does a new practice facility make you a better coach? You get worse in your 4th season when you take into account of what the guy has had to work with. Let's look at it like this shall we?

1st season: Walks into the mess of Chris Paul demanding a trade. George Shinn sells the team to the NBA. The GM in Jeff Bower was fired, albeit, gets a new one in Dell Demps, that improves the roster having the Hornets have their best start in franchise history, 11-1. There were some growing pains after it, but they still managed to hold teams to 93 PPG. Lost David West for the season. Questions of Chris Paul not caring anymore. Made the playoffs regardless, and gave the #2 seeded Lakers a run for their money.

2nd season: Shortened season. Chris Paul is traded. David West leaves. Future of the team is in complete question. Started the season with guys like Squeaky Johnson, Trey Johnson, and Lance Thomas. Eric Gordon could never stay healthy. Chris Kaman gets sent home, then comes back. Everyone was expecting a disaster season. However, people kept praising Monty for getting the guys to get up for the game, win or lose and just fight. They realized they didn't have all the talent in the world but still fought to the bone, and that's what gave Monty's identity.

3rd season: The rebuild begins. Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers are drafted. And everything just looks so bright in the future, right? Maybe not. Eric Gordon publicly states he doesn't want to be in New Orleans and signs with the Phoenix Suns. Openly asks New Orleans not to match. But they do. Ryan Anderson signs with New Orleans. Grievis Vasquez is the starting point guard and does very well. Anthony Davis gets hurt for a few games, and Austin Rivers gets hurt mid season, ending his first season. Still a lottery-type season, as they're one of the youngest teams in the league with no experience.

4th season: New identity. New owner. New everything. The Pelican regime has begun. Traded for Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans and the rebuild just might be progressing a little faster than we all think. We all hoped so. But the team had trouble starting off. Evans gets hurt in the preseason and can't fully get accustomed to his teammates until later in the season. Anderson has a chipped toe and doesn't start playing until the 2nd or 3rd week of the season. Darius Miller starts the season off hurt. Davis fractures his hand. Holiday fractures his leg. Anderson gets a herniated disc. Smith injures his knee. Seems like the season is already done and aimed for the lottery again.

So you see, Monty hasn't had the best luck since agreeing to be the coach. Most of our trouble and turmoil hasn't really been his fault. I know it sucks not winning and it's easy to blame the coach, but what can you expect when the coach can never get his team in full?

That's mainly because people don't want to see Roberts, Evans in SF and Stiemsma.

Just know when the team starts winning we'll have the arena filled every season and the biggest home court advantage due to the loud crowd.

March 22nd should be a packed house. Now what team the people cheer for maybe a different story.

I honestly believe when the pels get to the playoffs and star winning they will have more support than the Hornets ever did. People form here love this city and to represent everything from here. The Hornets never felt like our team truly they felt like left overs. Now that we have a team to represent this city they will find more support and I've see more ppl wear pel gear than i ever seen Hornets.

Agree. When that happens hopefully we get more than 2 racks at the Black and Gold Shop/Academy Store.

They got Racks? I thought it was just a 5 foot wide section on the wall ?

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

If they didn't feel positive about re-signing him they could have done a 1 or 2 year deal. What was Monty going to say no. However they didn't so no matter what this is year 1 of his new deal, and the franchise would be on the hook for the rest they owe Williams if they canned him this off season.

How long was the extension btw?

  14. #739
I always saw the contract extension more as a move of showing stability with new ownership, starting out on the right foot as an organization and to a lesser extent a vote of confidence to give Monty a shot to prove himself to the new organization.

Not that it was a long term commitment and marriage of the organization to Monty. I think benson is more interested in winning and getting butts in the seats and if Monty looks like he isn't gonna be that guy, and he so far in his career he doesn't, he would be gone and someone else would be brought in who could hopefully better achieve that.

But his extension now keeps Monty Williams with the Hornets through the 2016-17 NBA season. For a young team that figures to experience its share of growing pains over the next couple of seasons, Williams' contract extension is great news for all parties.

They said a few games ago that he's been under the weather. But I will let all the spin doctors believe that he's showing his disapproval to Monty. Smh!!

What makes this thread official? The original poster wanting to feel like he has some authority? I hate "official" threads. Yes, I waited 30 pages to ask.

Yeah Joel Meyers and Wesley gave Mr B a shot out during the game... said he never misses a game, but couldn't make it because he had been under the weather. Gave Mr B their best wishes for a speedy recovery... as do I. Get well Soon Tom B.
