score a few buckets in a row and Monty will bench you. At least we have a chance at a top 5 pick with him

He consistently gets his teams to play their butts off and actually coaches non stop all game that he has no voice at the end of every game. We would be one of the top teams in the league. Another plus is that he loves Austin Rivers from his days being under Doc. He was a big believer in Rivers before the draft and I'm sure he still is. Thibs and Chicago hierarchy are rumored to not get along and get stand each other. I really believe he would be a Sean Payton type of hire for this team and be the perfect fit.
no argument from me, but let's not forget..... he was the organizations first choice already.....(the point being that the organization is aware of him and what he brings)

Had nothing to do with him. He had a superstar in CP3. In Monty defense we don't have a player of that caliber.

Not only that, but Monty did pretty damn well with CP3 the one year we had him.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

    This.

I do not want to see another player dealt until Monty is dealt. Tanking does this team no good if Monty is still coaching it next year.

Yep but Monty does this tank good.

As much as I want to get Monty away from this team and have someone else, or should I say anyone else coach this team I guess it is best to leave the idiot in place and hope for a top 5 pick but with the luck this franchise has they will come out of the lottery with the 6thpick and we lose it in the trade for Holiday. So happy I did not renew my season tickets but even with the excitement of the offseason moves I just knew we had a head coach that is in way over his head. My other fear is that Benson does not clean house and brings these bums back next year for more of this garbage.

Yeah Rly, when he's got an "elite" defender like Rivers and is just starting to play them omgerz

Not trying to **** all over Monty but let's try and keep it in perspective. The 1 year Monty had CP3 and West we finished as the 7th seed. That W/L record was the worst during the 'CP3 Playoff run' era thing we had here. My opinion is that had more to do with CP3 and West but I will listen to arguments if someone wants to say Monty had something to do with it.

  13. #638
At the end of the day it's about results and the guy is not getting it done with IMO more talent to work with than any of those CP3 teams had. I don't think he survives after this season.

Shaka Smart is my guy, but somebody who might be an even better fit if Monty is fired - Fred Hoiberg.

Great coach as well, difference between he and Smart is that he has played in the NBA. Worked as an assistant in NBA, in front office as well. Knows the culture and all the moving parts.

Agreed... Smart is a great coach but idk how his "havoc" defense would translate. He'd have to adjust more to the NBA from a coaching standpoint than "The Mayor" Freddy would

They should create a new contest between the third and fourth quarters where if you win you get to coach the fourth quarter. I think we make the playoffs!

    Agreed!
BTW, I think if Monty leaves, he might want to take Brian Roberts with him. Monty is obsessed with BR.

i would like popovich but it is impossible

in the 90s he was also a rookie coach , as later Vogel, Carlisle etc

I like the MM idea of young coach - especially because the learning process of our team will took some more time because of tanking/not tanking caused by injuries in 2014.

But for right now Monty is our coach - it is all to Benson and Demps

  22. #647
Definitely go with a young coach. I really like what Vogel and Brooks have done and Stevens is doing a fine job with rebuilding the Celts as well.

To be fair, Monty is also a young coach.

I briefly talked about it in this article for the YCN, but I'm torn on the Monty situation. Half of me thinks Monty keeps running into bad luck. He had CP3 for one year, then loses him and gets a team of scrubs for two years. Injuries keep us from ever seeing what a full lineup looks like year after year. This was the first year he had quality talent, and it again got derailed by injuries.

But on the other side, we've heard about his defensive prowess since he walked in the building, but part of being a good defensive coach is more than the scheme, it's the adjustments. You can see that the players he has can't play the pick and roll like he wants. But rather than try to find a system that works, he just continues to do the same thing over and over again. That's frustrating to watch as a fan. Give credit to the Rockets, but they seemed to score every time down in the final minutes. That shouldn't happen to a good defensive coach.

I really have no idea if we should fire Monty or not, but right now I see too many issues to ignore.

That's the main issue for me to call your self a defensive minded coach and have the worse defense in the league is a problem. I don't care what MM say about some players D on this team none of those players are defensive liabilities. Along with that he seems more of a play maker rath than having a offence ran. He has great schemes at the end of games but thought out the game its not ball movement and all iso ball. Along with the his rotations are questionable icing players too long and not taking out player who are costing the game.
