Thread: Pelicans to meet with Tyreke Evans (offer has been made)

  1. #1701
if the kings match our offer it puts them at their cap, they are at 42 million now, plus 3 mil for mclemore, if they add tyreke for 11 million thats 56 million, they wouldnt have the money to give cousins the extension he wants so they better pick tyreke or cousins, my bet is on cousins.

How can SAC pull the offer on IGGY?
    Can they actually do that?

If that's the case......i'm pretty sure that Evans has said to them that he will sign at the same price as what NOLA has offered.
I don't understand why they would pay that much for him?
Maybe with McClemore they will put Evans at PG?

    Evans/Thomas
    McClemore/Thornton
    FA/Salmons
    Patterson/FA
    Cousins/Thompson

    Isn't that bad a team....

Not if they find a team who will take Salmons or Fredette

  4. #1704
it doesnt make sense to me, if they match tyreke they cant afford to give cousins the max contract extension he demanded or wants a trade and they also couldnt afford a small forward. they should just give cousins his contract and go after a decent SF.

true but if they get rid of salmons they literally only have 1 small forward on the team, travis outlaw. and couldnt afford to sign another.

They wouldn't be able to afford it if they signed IGGY either.
Maybe that is why they pulled the offer.
    Thinking about Cousins long term.

  7. #1707
Cousins's extension won't come until next offseason. If they match Evans's offer and give Cousins a max, they won't be flirting with the luxury tax next season either.

I just saw an article saying Kings offered him 52M and thats not the same number as the 56 we heard on twitter. You guys think the agent leaked the figure to the internet and tried to drive up his price and kings caught on? If so i guess iggy needs to fire his agent lol.

I don't believe anything right now. We'll get to the bottom of it soon enough.

At this point he needs to make some type of decision today or the Pelicans should move on.

Man this is dragging out.... I can't sleep through the night without waking up and checking to see if Reke signed lol

It would totally suck if we are forced to waive Lopez by friday to make room to a verbally agreed tyreke evans, and then on july 10th, the Kings match... THis is a risky game, and seeing how flimsy the Kings have been this offseason, I'm expecting the unexpected from them.

Might be a blessing in disguise. Reke resigns with SAC, and we bring in Wright, AFA and Delfino.

Delfino is our bench scorer, Wright starts, and AFA is the wildcard defender.

Lets go and get this 8th seed.

Looking back at last year, EG didn't sign the Suns contract until 7/4. I'm willing to bet Tyreke will sign our offer sheet today or tomorrow and the Kings will eventually match. It's obvious now after they pulled the offer for Iggy.

Honestly, call me crazy but I think I'd be happy with that.
Give me Wright or Brewer and Aminu off the bench and I'll be satisfied.

    Holiday/Rivers/PJ
    Gordon/Delfino
    Wright/Aminu/Miller
    Davis/Anderson
    Lopez/Smith

Them are the breaks when you are dealing with RFA. Evans refuses to play SF and now the Kings are going to match and play him at the position he refuses to play. All to not lose an asset that they won't make happy because he is playing out of position. It's a bad situation. And if Evans would be happy to stay in Sac for the same contract we offered, then obviously he's full of BS when it comes to not wanting to play SF. In which case this entire thing has been stupid and just games.

At this point if the hammer doesn't fall soon then I'd rather go after Wright and keep EG.

So Plan A was Iggy, Plan B was Tyreke, and Plan C was Martin?

As others have said, this may be a blessing in disguise. I'd be fine with holding on to Vasquez and Lopez and trying to get another wing via trade with those two as trade assets. With the Nuggets (now inevitably) resigning Iggy, possibly at a higher price than they expected, Wilson Chandler or Gallinari may become available. It's possible that Connelly liked Lopez and/or Vasquez while in New Orleans and would have interest. Remember, they just traded Koufos for Darrell Arthur, so they may be looking for a cheap/productive backup to Javale McGee.

Glad I slept through all that. Heh.

But about what Reke said, what, is be supposed to say? His heart is here?

Situation changes by the day. Nothing is written in stone quite yet.

    I dunno.

They have Jimmer, McClemore, Thornton and potentially Tyreke.

Doesn't make sense to have all 4. But whatever.

Sounds like they might be repeating the mistake the "Hornets" made when they matched Gordon at a price that was higher than what they originally valued the player to be worth.

More teams should realize that while talented players are certainly assets, so is cap space, especially in new CBA. You're not really losing an asset for nothing if you use you space to acquire a player that's a better fit and salary closer to your valuation. You're just swapping assets.

@WojYahooNBA: As USA Today reported, source tells Y! that Sacramento has withdrawn its four-year, $56 million offer from Denver free agent Andre Iguodala.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

If Dell is all in with his rebuild plan and Tyreke was a big part of it, he'll sweeten his S/T offer.

GV and Jason Smith could be what Kings want to let Tyreke walk.

If we don't get Tyreke, would anyone else be on board with going after Thabo Sefolosha next offseason?

6'7", great defender, .354 career from 3 (.419 last year on 3.2 attempts per game and .437 the year before on 1.7 attempts per game), doesn't need the ball in his hands. Seems like a great fifth option on offense and lock down perimeter defender.

Lance Stephenson and Quincy Pondexter will also be FAs (though restricted).

Pretty sure next offseason is for next year to worry about. I'm amped about THIS season.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about this coming season.

But if Sacramento matches our offer and it looks like we've "struck out" in FA this year, we have a decision to make--save our money for next year's crop of FAs, or spend it sooner on options D, E, F, etc.?

I know. But even if Reke doesn't pan out, there are still other moves to make. Might not need Thabo by then.
