Yeah, plus you can't dismiss the culture change they want there. Vasquez is a fiery guy with leadership skills and solid work ethich. Could help Malone get through to some of the youngins'
Another thing to keep in mind: There is NO WAY Dell put an offer on the table for Tyreke without an agreement with Kings in place that they will do a sign and trade.
If Tyreke says yes and a deal with Kings isn't in place, Dell has to what until the 13th to see if he gets his guy. Then, what if Kings match? Dell would have all that money left and all the big fish will be gone.
Don't have the details in front of me, but isn't GV only about $2,000,000 a year? I though we had nearly $7 million in cap space (and could renounce cap holds and cut Thomas giving us $8-$8.5 million. Anything more than that is overpaying Evans anyway IMO. However, I guess if they are sold that he is the answer, they would be willing to trade GV for him in a S&T. I just figured GV had more value than as a throw in as a salary in a S&T.
So if Reke says yes to us, it's gonna happen FAST.
This is the best offseason ever :hihi:
Last thing to keep in mind: final day to waive Lopez is the 5th.
If Pelicans plan on signing Iggy or even Tyreke if they really did offer 11 mil per, they would have to shed Lopez.
I am guessing Dell is telling these guys he needs an answer by then
Let's not forget Dwight Howard is coming into our division. We had better not get rid of Lopez. We need at least one big body down low.
Because it's HoopsHype and it's just one site.

Davis-35 minutes
Ryno-30
Smith- 20
Do any of these look unreasonable for next season? You know how many minutes are left if these guys get these minutes?
11.
Lopez is not a guy that we need to hang onto at all costs. With that room level exception, you can get a perfectly fine 4th big to give you 12-15 minutes a night.
Good post MM, I've been screaming this exact sentiment over the past 2-3 days. I think Davis plays 36-38, Anderson 30-32, Smith 20-22, so that leaves 4-10 min for a minimum salary guy. I see absolutely no reason to throw big $$$ at a Center in FA or through a S&T.
AD, Ryno, Smith, Dalembert, and bring back Amundson on another minimum deal.
I don't think that front line gets demolished. And I dont think Lopez over Dalembert is such a big improvement that I lose a wing player for it
Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol just in our division alone. It's a risky proposition for sure. You have to be able to match up. This is all good and great for the regular season, but if we don't have a big come playoff time, we're going to be hurting.
Shoot, without the Bynum/Okafor mismatch the last time we were in the playoffs, I think we take out the Lakers.
If Dalembert signs here for that 2 year 6 million deal you mentioned on the podcast, I'd be ecstatic. He's a total steal at that price.
Gasol is a big man, but he kills you more from the high post than the low and Duncan is gone in 2 years, max.
Per Howard, I would actually prefer letting him think he has the mismatch in the post and have his team feed him at the expense of ball movement and pick and rolls.
Go to work down low all day Dwight!
Hibbert and Howard will have a hard time matching up with Ant and Ryno.
That's what I love about what the Pelicans are potentially doing with Tyreke, Jrue, and Iggy. What if you frontcourt is where you get spacing from and not your backcourt? Sound familiar? See the 2 time defending champion Miami Heat. Spacing coming from the backcourt was a concern with James and Wade on wing, but Mario, like Jrue, can knock down outside shots, and the Pelicans also have Ryno in a Mike Miller like role with AD being a non traditional C/PF like Bosh. All we need is cheap 3-point shooters like potentially Copeland to mix in the off the bench and we're good.
"The game done changed..."
I would keep Lopez rather than dump him to overpay Evans. I am not convinced Evans at the 3 works well enough to overpay. Lopez is a big body and still young (just turned 25). Dalembert is 32 and a shell of his former self.
All of this is fine during the regular season; but the playoffs is another story.
It is a virtual lock for Howard to stay in WC with high probability of him landing in Houston, that's in our division.
The twin towers in Mephis may lose Randolph, but you still have Gasol. Another playoff lock in our division.
Warriors have Bogut, who they will keep under heavy wraps untill playoff time. Team can now be consided to have year-to-year strong playoff chances.
Pekovic looks to be very likely staying in the west with the Trailblazers and Wolves being primary suitors. Strong chance either team is in playoffs as 8th seed.
That's as hypothetical as I will get, but that's 4 out of your 7 playoff opponents who will posses centers that we will have no consistent answer to. And that's not counting McGee in Denver, the possibility of Bynum returning to LA if they loose Howard, and any possible transconference deals. Lopez may be just enough, but I'm not 100% sold on him vs those guys. Particularly when we are defending.
And I don't mind Davis on Duncan. I just don't like the idea of knowingly building a team that is going to be at a disadvantage at times. It's one thing to not be able to find a quality big body. It's a whole other to knowingly cut one on a good contract.
I'm torn. I'm not saying I don't hear what ya'll are saying. If dumping Lopez means getting Iggy, I'm going to be on board. I just wish there was another way.
Bynum is done. He has little future left in this league.
