Yesterday, a women crashed into a pine tree setting her car on fire. Gerald Herbert, a photographer of the Associated Press, arrived on seen with other citizens desperately trying to rescue a woman from her burning car. Her disabled sister, who was buckled up in the back seat, was rescued early by a war veteran who cut the seat belt and dragged her to safety. Gerald, along with others, ran half to three-quarters of a mile down the road telling truck drivers to bring their fire extinguishers to the site of the scene and a cement truck arrived with a hose. That hose saved the woman's life by putting out the fire. After that, the car was pulled to the street where a citizen with a crowbar preyed open the door. Citizens were doing everything they could to save her, even emptying water bottles onto the flames in hopes to perish them. He only took out his camera to take videos and pictures after she was rescued. Gerald, along with every other citizen are heroes. They saved two women's lives. Gerald Herbert is also my uncle.
