Chris Paul's dad speaks...says Paul would leave after the season anyways

    http://www.csnnw.com/pages/landingbl...80&feedID=5212

"Chris is frustrated," Charles Paul, the father of Chris Paul told CSNNW.com. "He's going to leave after the season anyway and it's not right that these owners are trying to dictate where Chris lands."

"That was a great deal for the Hornets," Charles Paul said. "This was something the owners should have discussed during the CBA negotiations. They shouldn't have thought Chris was going to re-sign with New Orleans. He wants to go somewhere he can win. That's it."

"The Hornets got about five or six guys on their roster. This whole thing is a joke," Charles Paul said. "I told Chris to just be patient. Things happen for reason and he'll eventually end up in a good situation."

So lets not resign with N.O. and forgo $24 million dollars? And people wonder why over 90% NBA players file for bankruptcy within 5 years after they play their last game. He basically capped out on a national level as far as sponsorship money goes even if he does get a bounce it will never amount to an additional $24 million. And what happens Charlie when you son blows out his knee and the sponsorship money disappears and he left all that money on the table.

My advice is to hire a better agent to advise your son because these types of statements aren't logically analyzed. You are here today gone tomorrow in the NBA so you better maximize your salary while it's still around or you could wind up looking like a Brandon Roy.

Paul is a *****. If West wasn't injured we would've beat the Lakers. If Paul played in the regular season like he played in the playoffs, our record wouldve been better too. So I don't want to hear his crying about winning, because we had a chance too. Our team didn't suck. He didn't play 6 years for a trash team. We went to the playoffs every year he was healthy besides his rookie season. So how can he blame us for sucking when he couldn't even stay healthy? We was the #2 team in the league in 08. Took the spurs to 7...Paul acts like he has had no success with the hornets. He's not all about winning, I don't buy that bs anymore.. he just wants to go to a big market. I thought Paul was a leader. What type of star wants to play with other stars?? That's weak, Jordan wanted to beat Isaaih, not team up with him. Being competitive is more than just winning..If Paul wants to get a ring that way then he doesnt have a competitive bone in his body if you ask me.

I don't see what there is to learn from this other than it's hard to have success in a small market. CP3 gave us 6 GREAT years and we had some pretty good teams. Unfortunately some injuries (to him and other players) de-railed some of the seasons that could have been very special. If he feels that he can't win in New Orleans then he can go somewhere else. I'm thankful for the amazing 6 years we had with him.

It's OK guys, Chris Paul is a good guy, and his heart is in New Orleans. I'm sure he'll do the right thing.

Hopefully people can now see that the guy is an *******. He's not worth our time boys. He doesn't care about the city or the fans. If he loved New Orleans so much, he'd recruit and win here, but obviously that's "too ridiculous to think about".

Hope we boo the living daylights out of this punk.

It's fine that he doesn't want to be here. But it'd be nice if he were MAN enough to say it himself, instead of being passive-aggressive about it and sending messages through Chris Broussard and now, his father,

Hero of this city? Not ever. Drew Brees has that title locked up for life. CP3 never truly loved it here, it was all a sham. He was always just putting in his time before he could leave.

He wouldn't of signed his first extension if he didn't love it here. Time passed by and things change. Who knows how he'd feel if we had a competent owner over the last few years.

OR, who knows how he'd feel if he never played for Team USA?

He signed the first one because the money made a difference. He doesn't need the extra money now.

He signed first extension because he would have been restricted and we could give max. Now her will be unrestricted and get max elsewhere. He's a lying little punk. Drew Bree's cares for the city. He goes out and recruits players to come here.

People need to give this small market/large market crap a rest. The Hornets didn't win due to being a small market. It was due to signing over the hill, one dimensional players to bloated contracts. Blame Shinn and Bower for that.

The situation is better now, but it's time for CP to have a change in scenery. His pops can spout off all he likes, but that doesn't mean he represents Chris' thought process 100%. My parents sure wouldn't because they aren't me.

Man you guys are full of it. You don't think he tried to recruit players to come to New Orleans. No star wants to come to a small market team. Just think back and tell me what all pro basketball player within the last few years that was a free agent chose to sign with a small market team. None.

I believe he has tried. He even joked about it with Melo in public, but Melo shot it down immediately.

Drew Brees wanted to go to Miami. Had they offered a contract, he would have signed with them and not the Saints. His team went to the NFC championship his first year here and is part of an organization that makes solid personelle moves. The Saints win.

    Completely different situation.

I completely agree with you, maybe my point wasn't clear enough. It's harder to get big names to sign here in FA, so when we did get someone "big" to sign here they were vastly over paid (Posey, Peja). I think if our front office had been smarter with some of those contracts, CP3 would be willing to stay longer.

You speak the truth about the parent's comments too. Just cause his dad said that doesn't mean that's how Chris feels.

i beleive this is what your referring to

Paul polled a group of reporters on where they thought Anthony would wind up, and asked Anthony if he wanted to play in New Orleans.
"I ain't going to no muddy waters," Anthony said.
    "For real?" Paul replied.
"Who is your owner?" said Anthony. "David Stern is your owner."

There is defnitely a bigger premium on the quality of your moves in a small market, but being a large market or small market team doesn't automatically qualify for success or failure. Utah and San Antonio are examples. Even Dallas only has Dirk as a perennial all-star. Knicks, Sixers, and Bullets/Wizards have sucked for ages.

With Demps and Monty running the show, I am really over CP3 changing address. No hard feelings at all.

Same here. I think it's the right move for the Hornets and for CP3. Thanks for an awesome 6 years.
