Thread: Draft Choice

  1. #126
Rumblings in Charlotte are that they're looking very closely at Kon if VJ goes 3.

Isn't that basically how Haliburton fell in the draft.

  4. #129
We now have #7 and #23, exciting.

Not really it had more to do with his unorthodox shooting form and doubt due to him being careless with the ball and being fan of jump pass.

    I was thinking Jalen Williams

I hope he falls all the way to 7. If not, give me Kon.

It's confirmed though that he told the Cavs (5th pick) and Hawks (6th pick) to straight up not draft him. He also didn't want to go to Washington (9th pick) because they still had John Wall, though he hasn't mentioned whether or not he told them straight up to not draft him like he's said about Cleveland and Atlanta. But he didn't talk to them or workout for them prior to the draft. He also did say he was happy when they told him on draft night they weren't going to take him (they called him earlier in the night and said they would take him).

Kon appears to be rising in the draft right now. Charlotte appears to be leaning towards Kon if VJ isn't there at 4. Even Utah appears to be warming up to Kon. Good chance he doesn't make it to 7. This is shaping up to potentially be one of the wildest draft nights in the top 10 in awhile. There's so many different directions it could go:

Scenario 1: no trades prior to pick 7
    3-Philly takes VJ
    4-Charlotte takes Kon
    5-Utah goes with Tre Johnson
6-Washington has Ace fall into their laps
This gives New Orleans the option of taking Fears if the rumors are true about Dumars liking him. And I hope he does.

    Scenario 2:
3-Washington trades #18 to move here to take Ace
    4-Charlotte takes VJ
5-Utah takes Tre Johnson or Kon
6-Philly takes leftovers of Kon or Tre
7-Same scenario as above where Fears still is available at 7

Scenario 3 - Washington stays put and hopes Ace drops to 6:
    3-Sixers take VJ
    4-Charlotte takes Kon
5-New Orleans uses #23 to flip with Utah to take Ace
    6-Washington takes Fears
    7-Utah takes Tre Johnson

    Scenario 4:
3-Washington trades 18 to take Ace
    4-Charlotte takes VJ
5-New Orleans trades 23 to get this pick to take Kon?
    6-Philly takes Tre Johnson
    7-Utah takes Fears

    Scenario 5:
    3-Philly takes VJ
4-New Orleans trades 23 to jump here to take Ace
    5-Utah takes Tre Johnson
    6-Washington takes Fears
    7-Charlotte takes Kon

Possible Philly also goes with Tre Johnson at 3, but I feel the picks then play out similarly after that to the scenarios above in various fashion.

Yeah. After Flagg and Harper I have personal favorites with how my day dreams of the Pels' future will unfold but talent-wise it really does seem like the next six to eight guys are roughly on the same level and I'll be happy with any of them. I just want us to stay at seven unless we're going for Harper. I was into the Ace thing for a bit but that DJM podcast really turned me off on anyone else with personality issues. Character is going to be important while the ship is being righted.

I think it's either Fears or Malauch @ 7 . Fears if he's there and Maluach if he's not. Then we get a ball handler @ 23

Jeff Goodman reported that the pels like Queen.

It feels like a smokescreen and negociation strategy but it's hard to know who has real intel from the new FO so can't completly discard it for now.

Good point. Now is a great time to pay attention to who says what in regards to draft rumors so that afterwards we can see who might actually have the inside sources.

This makes a lot of sense especially with it being confirmed that the Pels are in love with both Fears and Maluach after getting good looks at them up close and personal. Either guy addresses a huge need at 7.

    Feels that way.

    Tre Johnson
    Ace Bailey
    Egor Demin
    VJ Edgecomb
    Fears/ Knueppel
    Maluach

    heres how i rank em

Tre Johnson along with TM3- our years of lack-luster 3pt shooting are suddenly over

Ace Bailey frightens me, but you have to take a swing at 7. to hell with 'fit'

I like Fears, but don't think we will let him cook in the offense when zion is playing, and. think he will be a detriment to winning as a rookie if he is playing much off the ball

I like Mauluach because he can be penciled in as a starter and we have need there. Unfortunately, i dont think teams should worry about ******** like that till they have a guard that can dribble, pass and score

Egor Demin- is pretty much who i think we should draft. He's a better shooter than his numbers, more athletic than Giddy, and im scared of houston taking him. when zion is running point he could play off the ball well

I just realized by reading about Maluach visa situation that we could live the ultimate pels life experience.

Selecting him at 7 just to see him denied his visa because the federal government is targeting south sudanese, then being arrested and deported by ICE before even playing for New Orleans and to finish have Trump take victory lap for going after the "woke NBA".

I hope everyone is ready for this scenario.

If we dont get a PG at 7 (Egor, Fears or kasparas) then i want one of these wings (tre, ace and kon)

if we dont get a guard at 7 id want jase richardson at 23

i do not want to take Maluach because the other available bigs we can get with our later picks see nearly as good as he is. Perhaps not their upside, but definitely more polished in some cases.

whats funny is that i agree that maluach is the safest pick AND the picks i like at 7 could be total busts. but damnit every great team has a great guard and you have to keep rolling the dice in a small market cause its the only way to get one
