Podcast Dejounte Murray Cooks the Front Office

Might be the reason for most of the changes that were made... I'm willing to give Joe D a chance after hearing how this franchise moved.

Let?s talk about the real problem with this organization. It?s Gayle Benson and the Benson trust that values profit and social status over building a quality NBA franchise in New Orleans. It?s a second rate, cheap organization. Seeing them keep Willie Green and my recent experience watching Saints minicamp baking in the sun on high school level metal bleachers with young children overheating while the team catered to the social elite in the balcony of the practice facility that confirmed my suspicions. I remember watching minicamp with covered bleechers, misters, and fans for all under the ownership of Tom Benson. Gayle Benson and the trust is running both of these organizations into the ground.

Murray comes across so toxic in this podcast.

    So toxic.

All you need to do is watch his introduction press conference with DG and WG where they are telling a completely different story of how DJM wanted this trade to happen and then remember that Rich Paul/Klutch Sports represents him to know that this stinks and is the beginning political move to force a trade.

He has now alienated himself from three franchises in three years. We'll have to give up assets to move him.

I like Grubbs but the rest of those guys…I just can’t watch. It’s really, really bad.

Pickup with about 45 minutes left and Eric Asher nails it.

As long as they're still here I wont complain about ownership. Statistically and financially speaking, we're fortunate to have a team. The size of our market doesnt really warrant it. People said that of the Saints for a long time too, and they finally turned it around. As for the 'fire Willie Green' ******** at least half of the fans support, unless you are immensely close to the situation, you cant tell whats going enough to evaluate willie green's job performance and projected performance with this team ...... would some other coach we hire really have us better in a year? In an age where every coach of the year is terminated within a couple years i dont mind being the exception. Unless you've talked to the players and learned he's lost the locker room or something then you should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Isn’t that clear that Willie Green has lost the locker room from multiple player testaments at this point (DJM, Dyson Daniels, and BI)? Half of the fans support him? That is generous. Was it not fairly clear that the team flat out quit by January? Yet we just change the GM/team president and expect the fact that WG lost the team to be remedied? WG is a lame duck coach like Gentry was in his last season. He should have been fired. It is clear that ownership leans towards sticking it out with cheap coaches that can’t build any culture or accountability in order to save money (see Alvin Gentry, Willie Green, and Dennis Allen). If Willie Green was fired along with Griffin, I wouldn’t have criticized ownership. It’s this penny pinching poor decision making that shows ownership’s true priorities. It is not winning.

Well, most probably no because, as Darkhorse pointed out, the real problem is ownership. Willie is just a symptom of that problem. It's amazing that we repeat the same mistake we made by forcing Griffin to keep Gentry...a lame duck year for Willie is only going to hinder the development of our rookies.

While the previous regime could have done better with DJM and his situation, I?m starting to see a trend here with Klutch clients not taking some accountability with how they handle their own affairs on the court. We?ve seen DJM seemingly have ?issues? at every one of his stops but to him it?s everyone else?s fault which is a common tactic out of the Klutch playbook.

Yes…. It just delays developing a winning culture. We already know Willie can’t do that.

DJM appears to be somewhat of an emotional headcase. Not surprising based on his upbringing and family trauma, but it isn’t just DJM throwing shade on the Pelicans. See Hart, Daniels, Lonzo, BI… kind of a pattern.

Any coach that loses you games will lose the rocker room. Willie made a lot of questionable decisions that cost us several games. I can understand everyone's frustrations with the situation and it's not a shocker that the jabs have been coming out over the years. It honestly starts with Gayle and Griffin's decision making. We should have never hired a rookie head coach that far into a rebuild. And then we made things infinitely worse by forcing the rookie head coach to win now. Willie was kind of thrown under the bus. He should absolutely be out of a job but he never should have had it in the first place. Honestly if we do not rebuild from scratch and remove all of the old guard, things may get pretty dang ugly.
