Will Green turn away from Christ if asked by the new fro t office? I'm going to say unlikely.

It's likely Dumars will fire Willie and bring in someone of his choosing (I hope). It was a lot of good head coaches fired this year and we need to bring one in.

    Mike Budenholzer is right there.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's a flawless coach, he has big issues, but man.

ahahahahhha Joe fing Dumars hahahah. Should we hire Billy King and Isiah Thomas as assistants while at it? FFS stupidity of this franchise doesnt end. Im done, move the team to vegas or seattle and stop the suffering...

Franchise is a disaster. Now 5-6 more years of misery is upon us.

It seems fairly likely that the path forward is going to be:

    - Sign up Dumars
    - Keep Green
    - Trade Zion for probably very little of value
    - Get like, the 6th pick in this draft because we didn't even tank properly for best top odds
    - Completely capped out for a team that will, at best, produce like 38 wins a year for the next 5 years

    Beautiful stuff.

Honestly, after the way the last few years have gone, if there's no brightness in this offseason I might just be done with the team completely for a while. I've been pretty out of touch this past year or so because of the obviously depressing state of the team, but I get the feeling that unless we get very lucky, this is just the beginning.

How do you keep rooting for a team that obviously doesn't want to be rooted for? They're doing everything possible to be bad, to turn the fans away, to make the fan experience miserable, to make watching the team unfun, to cap the future potential of the franchise, et cetera. They do not want support.

It's going to be very frustrating if they keep Green and trade Zion.

    Yeah, absolutely my point.

There are obviously arguments for trading Zion, the issue isn't that he's some untouchable figure that you're not allowed to even consider trading. But right now is not the time, and ditching him (over, apparently, possibly Gayle's disapproval of his personal life, so some of the rumblings say?) while you also keep Green would just be egregious.

I’m guessing this is a move to placate Zion since reportedly they didn’t get along great.

I prefer Griff to Zion honestly but it is what it is. I thought Griff was overall pretty decent aside from the Dejounte trade. I think it’s important in times like this to be realistic with yourself as a team and assess what you have. If you do that I think you’d find that trading Zion is the best thing for this team but it’s so tough. You’re going to have to trade away a ton and start yet another rebuild after accomplishing nothing since CP3 left 15 years ago. In that time you’ve won a single playoff series. Made the playoffs 4 times, and had two number one picks of franchise players. Nothing to show for it.

So you’re gonna need a good GM and a good coach to lay the groundwork. And it looks like they’re choosing Dumars.

Back in like 2011 I was of the opinion that GMs make millions of dollars, there’s no way us lowly fans know more than them. Joe Dumars was one of the GMs that taught me otherwise. I remember seeing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villinueva’s contracts and being flabbergasted. I remember him trading Chauncey Billups for a single season of 37 year old Allen Iverson.

Joe Dumars wasn’t just a bad GM. He was one of the worst and that was 15 years ago. Do we expect he’s improved as he gets to retirement age? Who do you know has gotten better at their job in their 60s?

If my least favorite organization hired Dumars, I would be happy.

Keep or get rid of Willie and or Zion. Doesn’t matter. If Fumars is at the helm, this team is going nowhere without a whole lot of luck.

Trading Zion right now is about as good as cutting him. That’s the kind of return you’re looking at. Even if i were dead set that he can’t be part of a winning team I’d feel it was my obligation to give it a year and hope he rehabs his value.

That's the great point. I did my best, but to keep invested into this team required more and more from me not even as a fan but as a rational human being. This season it took me exaclty five games to give up and stop watching. I just simply couldn't continue supporting the franchise that basically does everything wrong. Now for a moment I got excited seeing the news that Griff was fired, but then... Joe Dumars? Come on, I don't believe he really changed his ways and mastered the art of being a successful GM in all these years he was out of sight in the League Office. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, but now it looks like the ownership shot themselves in a foot once again.

Things can change fast for better and for worse. That's sports. Let's see if our luck can change.

I will be optimistic until they give me a reason not to be. Change is change. It probably could not get any worse than it was. Maybe Dumars will luck into some good decisions that will get us going forward. Griff- was an enigma. He brought in SO much talent. It may not have all been a perfect fit but by lanta we had talent. And then he brought in Green (a rookie head coach) while capping us with CJ's monster contract. In hindsight that is a fireable offense right there. I want to see us get things right. We still have an opportunity. Get the right coach in. Good luck Joe

Honestly, at this point I don't care about Green. This team is likely in tank mode for awhile anyway, and what better coach to have than a guy who can't close games?

This ownership/front office does not do tank or rebuild or slow build. We will be trading young players/future assets for veterans in a (futile?) attempt to chase the play-in.
