I liked Cam Johnson he fell off the face of the earth when he went to Brooklyn.

This would likely be the worst case scenario. When he walks for nothing in return Dae would start a riot. Lol

I don't see a world where Griff lets him walk.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Griff's probably just going to max him. Griff has his ego all tied up in BI, I think the man would need six months of therapy to be persuaded to part with him.

Playing the hypothetical though, if Griff didn't extend him and just let him walk, I would be so confused that I wouldn't even have a take. Like, am I mad at him for just completely wasting such an asset? Yes. But am I also glad he defeated his ego enough not to max him on principle? Yes. So how do you even feel in a situation like that? We avoided the contract death, but at what cost? Horrible situation.

For me, it's all about the attempt.

Standing pat hasn't worked, and continuing to stand pat while the rest of the West gets stronger is a sign that you didn't even try.

If Griff makes a move and it doesn't work out, I can at least respect the attempt. He went for it. Like when Demps got Boogie, it didn't work out long run but I had to give him props: he tried. He went for it. He got the star when the star was available, and it looked good at times until he got the injured.

If Griff got Trae and we ended up no better (I doubt that, but just for the sake of argument) then I would have to at least respect that he tried. Took the swing.

Wow, great move for the Blazers. 2029 is far enough in the future that it shouldn't massively harm their current rebuild, the 14th pick tonight isn't worth that much and Deni is legitimately good now while still being young enough to grow.

What was that I was saying about the West gearing up?

2 2nd rounders going to Washington in the Avdija deal also, per Woj

Speculation started a month ago .

And before you say ''oh but Stein is quoted in that article!'' yeah, all he's quoted saying is that the Pelicans are expected to be shopping Ingram, which isn't a mystery to anyone. He isn't linking it to LA, and nor is anyone else with actual sources or connections.

Wow, bid against themselves a little there I think.

I have a strong feeling that the only thing happening for the Pels tonight is drafting either Missi or Ware at 21.

That should be the primary assumption.

We may also get BI signing the extension.

Anything else is a distance third place.

Bi signing an extension without a trade, would be disgusting.

And yet, with Griff as the GM, it has to be the expectation. Anything else would be a surprise - pleasant or otherwise.

One of the worst things my clients tell me is when they quit their job before lining up another one. It's just so much harder to get another job when your resume shows you're not currently working. As someone that used to hire people, seeing a spotty job history is worse than someone having a criminal record.

That's what it sounds like to me when people talk about not resigning BI and letting him walk. Just. No. Y'all watch way too much Boot Krewe Media. Those guys are just negative to be negative. Most of their negativity doesn't even make sense.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

The problem is that it's not just continuity if you re-sign him. It isn't. Acting like the options are ''keep on as normal, or let him walk'' is a complete falsehood, because the extension involved would cause immense difficulties for this team in the future.

It's true that letting him walk for nothing is a horrible idea. That's why I support trading him.

But it's also true that resigning him on that exorbitant contract just because you don't want to look dumb for letting him walk, is in itself very dumb. Both options are bad.

That's why you have to trade him now. Better time would have been a year ago, but you can't get in the time machine, so second best time is now.
