What a disappointing letdown. I wanted that 37 point win.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.
BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.
I just love the way Borrego managed this game. I was ecstatic when the Mavs went to a zone and Borrego only let the Pels last one play before he called timeout to adjust to the zone. Haven’t seen that in a while. I know it’s only one game, but it was nice to see adjustments be made instead of letting the lead be blown. This team is so talented. Let’s ride this momentum into another W.
A win over Den on Friday would actually put us in a position to advance out of the group round. Also, point differential will matter hugely in tiebreakers in the IST, especially for the wildcard. Probably wasn't the game to take the foot off the gas in the final period.
Listen I know the truth is hard to hear. And it's hard of letting go of things you love. But if it makes you feel better, you'll always have your fond memories of the melodic dribble, dribble, dribble of the ball as Brandon Ingram ignores his teamates and the shot clock as he fights and claws his way to those x's on the floor that only he could see. The melodic dribbling, that is only interupted by the ocassional wonderful surprise of the ball careening off his foot or the back of his leg. And I know you'll miss the drama of Brandon's anguished pleas to the evil refs who refuse to acknowledge the evils committed against him by his foes who try to keep him from his imaginary x's.
But if it makes you feel better, perhaps it can be replaced by something just as wonderful. A Brandon Ingram who uses his skills to pass the ball to his open teamates with pleny of time left on the shot clock for the ball to continue to move and perhaps even make it back in his hands. Perhaps not while standing on one of his invisible x's, but at a spot in the court where those nefarious foes aren't there to bother his sweet, sweet jumper. Perhaps it will be replaced by a Brandon Ingram who will set a screen for his teamate, and cut to the basket whereby the basketball miraculously returns to him for an open dunk at the basket. Or a Brandon Ingram who courageously sacrifices what he loves about basketball to be available to help his teamates, by catching their passes when they're double teamed and taking and making a wide open three point shot.
And just for you, perhaps once or twice in the game, when nothing else works, Brandon can still let you relive your favorite memories by bringing back that sweet dribble and that sweet stroke over several outstretch hands.

Swear to the Lord...
Thought you were summarizing our '$197,000,000, one trick pony's' career. You would think, with the difference in their physiques, you could tell the difference.
Speaking of our '$197,000,000, one trick pony', that was a great steal he made last night from Luca at midcourt last night and that uncontested jam that followed was a thing of beauty..... WAIT!!!! That uncontested jam turned into a uncontested turnover, huh?
Never mind!!!
Brandon Ingram's been trending ⬆️. In addition to improved playmaking over last 3 games (14.0 potential assists -- Luka Doncic/Nikola Jokic territory), 3-point & free throw attempts are up. You can feel he's figuring things out.

It's not just that post, it is the vast majority of your posts. It just gets old. Add something to discussions instead of trying to complain about one player all the time. I think everyone on the board has gotten the point that you cannot stand Zion. Move on and talk Pelicans.
I think most of us have one player we can’t stand. Ironically for me it’s Brandon Ingram. I’ve had my moments where I think he’s the best small forward in the league and then he does this momentum killing ISO stuff and it drives me bonkers. I love a basketball team with movement. The iso stuff gives me headaches.
Brandon Ingram was in the 70th percentile in iso possessions ppp before last game. Zion Williamson was in the 25th. Now we now have 2 people typing that Brandon Ingram's iso are the worst thing they've ever seen and is a major problem on this team.
Why sooooo much emphasis on BI's iso when Zion's have literally been among the worst in the NBA this year. BI's are at least 2nd quartile and above average. Especially impressive for a player that doesn't take and make a bunch of iso 3s.
The other guy's rambling on this has gotten so idiotic I'm not going to bother. Maybe you can make it make sense??

In other news, Jose practiced full contact according to Willie.
You’re not wrong. I’d rather build the team around Herb than Zion or BI. I just have never liked BI that much as a player. The problem with me is the ball stopping and Zion does do it too. When a team is rotating the ball and hitting shots, a player that doesn’t do it will throw the rest of the team off. I have seen many times when the Pels start to get stagnant on offense because he’s just dribbling and dribbling. It happens for long periods of time. He does it a bunch at the end of games. I understand he’s the “closer”, but it feels like he doesn’t even attempt to pass. It could be coaching, but he has done it with multiple coaches now. It’s just that a team is never really successful without a star that keeps the offense flowing. He draws all the gravity, so you would think he would pass more. Instead, he chooses to take really difficult shots. Maybe BI just needs to play with a real PG. I do see that he’s trending up with assists.

Not posting the new thread yet for next game since I wait until the Pels themselves post their own tweet, otherwise it's a bit premature.
However, thought this was worth the
