It's frustrating. Tonight I could have understood it if it was in the second half when he had 5 fouls, but weirdly he was more active on the glass (at least offensively) in the second half. Just lack of effort, it's not good enough. I don't know if 10 boards a game, but I think he had 1 at the half? Should have been at least a few more.

i bounced after curry hit 40 lol...i tried to take it...

green bodied zion in the first half...if zion had a midrange shot then green would not just sit in the paint waiting on zion to attack....

what made me mad was the effort that we didnt have and getting bullied on the boards..

Yup. Octoboer is still weird time in basketball.

But if #14 misses the next game, I'm not even going to bother.

    Not doing this ******** again.

Portland is going to have a fire sale at some point.

I want Robert Williams in a bad way. Good times Larry but bye. Send him back to Portland.

10 boards isnt a stretch for someone with his size and explosiveness. Maybe he doesnt have the nous for rebounding as it does take a certain skill to read the ball off the rim etc. You can definitely see its an effort thing he isnt as interested in cleaning up the glass as he should be.

Offense requires a skillset; rebounding requires a work ethic. By far, that is the most disappointing aspect of this game. Losing is one thing, but being outworked is a whole other matter.

We may have hit on Hawkins.

I know he is a fan favorite for his hustle, but LNJ cannot play the center position defensively at a championship level (especially with no help from the forward position).

The league better rescind the fine on Willie for that technical. If ever there was a reason to vociferously complain about poor refereeing, Steph Curry's takedown of Hawkins was just cause.

This was a Naji Marshall game if ever there was one.

It is if you're also asking him to take the kind of beating he does on offense, and also be (depending on matchups) one of the lead playmakers. Demanding 10 a night is unrealistic - I'd be happy with 8, which doesn't sound like many fewer but it is. That said yeah, effort needs to improve on that end. He switches on and off with it and it seems to be something that happens when he's playing well offensively. But the problem is, you can't let your effort be dictated by your results, it has to be the reverse.

Y'all still got hope? I am going to need some optimism...3 games into the season

I mean, ''3 games into the season'' should be the reason it's hope. Early season, tons of guys missing, bad reffing, unusually bad shooting. Last season it took us until late November into December to really start clicking and at that point if Zion hadn't gone down we'd have been rolling.

Don't panic about anything until Christmas, my eternal advice.

    Oh come on lmao

Trayce Jackson Davis in 20 minutes of play

    13 points, 9 rebounds, 7 offensive

Nobody on the entire Pelicans team had more than 6 total rebounds.

    Thanks man. Always coming through!!

One player i wish we had is Duren instead of Dyson. He doesn't space the floor but does all the things we are bad at, plus he is very mobile.

I like what i see in Hawkins, he actually tries to go for rebounds despite his build.

Medical and PR stuff already in Mid-season form

TJD was a favorite in this year's draft for many on the board. Really thought the Pels should jump into the last second round to grab him when he was still there. He's a very mobile center/forward who can block shots, rebound and pass the ball. Very skilled, like a poor man's Sabonis. Oh well...

Who is next on "revaluated in 2 weeks list"? My guess? CJ

You're probably not winning that game when:

    1. BI, TM3, Jose, Naji are all out.
    2. Steph Curry shoots lights out.
    3. The refs ref like they did, particularly in the 3rd Q.

It's a loss, it happens, move on. We've got three games in four days starting with @OKC. Let's look forward to that.

I had Duren top 5 in that draft the entire time - several great draft guys did too. Damn shame we couldn't get him. I doubt they'd trade him but they have a million bigs so I'd still be making queries.

Yeah I remember luckyman and I both having one of our rare moments of agreement on liking TJD. He's great fun.

This was the deciding factor in the game and it wasn't close. So many bad calls and no calls. Makes the NBA hard to watch when the refs are this one sided.

My thoughts as well. It's a long season and 1 early loss to a championship caliber team isn't a big deal.

Brandon Ingrams MRI didn't show anything. He is questionable for tomorrow.
I understand the precautions becausehe is injury prone, but tbh i never saw him play trough minor injury like 90% of this league does. I expect him to miss 2-3 more at least.

Then outside of JV, this team does not have a board eater. Just no technique and laziness and that includes #1. The one other guy making an effor this year on the boards...oh yeah he's injured AGAIN.

Could have drafted Trayce Jackson Davis. He lasted and lasted into the 2nd round. But nope. Let's ride with Larry and go sign freakin Cody Zeller. That'll do.
front office has really disappointed with drafting(for the most part). not even bothering an effort in second round choices as if the Pelicans were an elite team with little need to draft 2nd round picks.
