Thread: Is it possible we don't address the center position

Is it possible we don't address the center position

Our front office somewhat prioritized it amongst a couple of other things.

We lost our biggest strength there, which was the depth in Hernangomez and Hayes

we bring in cody zeller and thats it?

I'm sure Larry Nance will play abundantly there, as well as Zion at times.

But damn JV and Zeller isn't what I had hoped for. Jarret Allen sounded perfect IMO

Im also old and still can't help but thinking the center position is important.... But Steve Kerr doesn't sweat it much to rolling out Green and Looney on most nights

Do you all think we are done, or do you think we are still trying to find a trade at center?

Well, Denver won a championship with a slow-footed defensive liability at the center position.

I do want to see Zion at the 5 against a team like the warriors. At least offensively.

But teams like Memphis still going to be a big problem.

In the minutes that he has played the five, he looks even more disinterested than normal. They need to find a way to play these guys where they want to be so they can enjoy the game. Every time he is at the five, he just mopes around the court.

You mean the 2 time MVP?

Yeah, it will be interesting to see him guard the likes of Giannis and AD whether it be at the 4 or the 5.

There are times and places when the Zion at the 5 lineup will work well, especially offensively. Defensively, I think it can work but only in specific matchups - you mention the Warriors as an example, I tend to agree there.

What I don't want is for us to try Zion at the 5 lineups where he's surrounded by non-shooters or questionable shooters like - it's just asking for failure, and it's something I'm extremely worried about with Trey out.

I actually like what I have seen from Trey Jemison in the preseason. Sadly, I think he is the best defensive center on the team right now.

Dude, when we last played Giannas with zion healthy, it seemed like a match-up nightmare for zion

What happened to all the Jarrett Allen propoganda; I liked the thought of it.... albeit we were overpaying in all the hypotheticals i saw. It's a given it would include Murphy or Herb along with their ransom of picks

For Allen? No way in hell. He was played off the court in the playoffs and makes $20 million/yr. Hard pass.

I like Allen and I think it's highly reductionist to say he was played off the court in the playoffs.

But I would not give up Trey for him. Not a chance.

Nor would I give up Herb. I like Allen, but would not give up more than something like JV, Kira, Naji and a protected 1st.

JV, Dyson Daniels and a 1st or two would be closer to reality. We are going to have to pay someone to take kira lewis

No, still too much. You are way overvaluing Allen.

Unless you are acquiring a top tier center, throwing the kitchen sink at it is rarely a good idea. The game changes so rapidly that the position fails to keep up and you can usually get similar production from a lesser name and someone that is cheaper. I think the coach is a bigger issue on the front of big men than the center itself.
