Thread: Zion Appears on Gilbert's Arena

I think it’s good for him to come out and say he is trying. It may not work out- it may simply be PR to shut people up, but as others pointed out he has probably gotten advice from some of our veteran players and taken it to heart. If something keeps happening (aka you keep ending up with serious injuries), there is a 50/50 chance you aren’t doing enough to take care of your body. Sometimes it’s bad luck, sometimes your body just isn’t cut out to survive the stress. But I can appreciate if he is trying and taking this seriously. It’s a problem.

No, the disingenuous thing is acting like that's what I said.

You said that Lebron does some things right, some things wrong. No one is denying that - the man regularly smokes cigars for God's sake. But acting like he doesn't put far more time and effort into his healthcare than other players (in a league where players are regularly in the club until 3am drinking Henny after games) is nuts to me. Will Lebron occasionally have a bad habit or fall for a junk workout? Sure, everyone can and will - especially if they're desperate to eke out that final 1% of potential. But Zion isn't saying he's going to get a copy of Lebron's meal plan and eat that. He's saying he's going to follow the blueprint.

What is that blueprint? Well, sure it's an ambiguous term, but it seems clear to me that to follow in Lebron's blueprint here is to invest in the latest equipment, to hire a fleet of specialised staff who know what they're doing, and to stick to that regime seriously; treating training and recovery like it's your actual job. Cause that's what Lebron has been doing, for years.

And you know what? That's exactly what I want Zion to be doing. That's what you say in that post you want him to be doing. So why are you so contrary about Zion saying that's what he's going to do?

I thought that too, but apparently not. Why should he, if he comes out and says ''I'm trying, here's what I've focused in on, I've talked to X person and got Y advice'', and the fan response is just to act like he came out and told them that he was going to graffiti their home?

Fans are fickle unfortunately. He should still say it for the people that need to hear it. I appreciate it personally. Sometimes being a public figure just sucks. You cannot win

I'm not saying what you said. That's what Zion said. That's the thing I don't like. As I said in the original post.

If he said man I've been taking been taking X from Frank Gore because he managed to shake the injury prone label that would have been impressive to me. Saying I'm copying Lebron doesn't prove he cares based on the name drop alone because it's lazy to say i'm copying the greatest player of this generation. Lebron never struggled with injuries early in his career and never struggled with his weight and I've brought up legitimate questions as to how much of his longevity should be attributed to the fact he's just a freak of nature like Jordan and Kareem before him.

Literally google search Luka workout and you'll see a bunch of articles that credit his workouts for how great a player he is despite the fact the guy clearly looks fat for an NBA player on the court.

I find it incredible that you're so insistent that the Lebron comp shouldn't be valued because Lebron's never had injuries and may just be a freak of nature and therefore incomparable, and the option you choose that would impress you is someone who is, by virtue of playing a completely different sport, literally incomparable.

Lebron never struggled with injuries. Have you considered that maybe part of the reason for this is because he has spent the last 12 years at the forefront of athletic self-care? Of course we can't run the experiment where we have alternate universes to compare a Lebron who didn't do this kind of investment, so we'll never really know, but if your point is that we can't know whether Lebron's investment has paid off or if he's just an athletic freak, why can't you just say that you hope Zion's tailoring his routine to himself and move on? Instead you have to push weird stuff about what Tristan Thompson says about Lebron's diet and how Zion's just looking for clout.

Going to painstaking lengths to hate on someone who is open about their struggle to improve after past mistakes. Pure Skip Bayliss level stuff.

I like Zion. I've always liked Zion. I think he was ambushed with these questions a bit and is just giving lip service. He's young and has made some mistakes but i legitimately think the the basketball injuries are just a product of his biology. Lebron was not a professional taking care of his body at 18-23 either and all this stuff that you say is the Lebron blueprint is literally stuff CJ and Larry say all the time. You and I are on the same side of the fence with Zion, I just frankly don't care what he does or doesn't say to Gilbert Arenas unless it's actually note worthy. Rehabbing and dealing with outlandish negative backlash is already way more adversity physically and mentally than Lebron has ever had to deal with. You're taking a point I've made about Lebron and making it about Zion.

Just take the L man. You're a Lebron fanboy I get, but youve earned the L for falling for a business insider article.

You're right - instead, I should take my information from the well renowned, reliable, trustworthy resource of

    uh

    Tristan Thompson.

now this moriah mills chick is going around saying zion was abusing her..paying her off so she can keep quiet......talking bout zion owe her $62k and has not paid her yet.....i saw a video that she staged with tmz of her looking like she was walking down a abandon street and saying her and zion is in a good place....talking bout other NBA players have contacted her and that part might be true lol...

zion has to take legal actions now against her....and the league will investigate it just because she said he abused her...

She also claimed she was pregnant and also claimed to have gotten his name tattooed on her face, neither of which appear true. She is legitimately crazy.

BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.
