With smaller market franchises, the media will spend your entire career trying to move you. Then if you do leave, they lambast you for it, and if you stay until you retire, they praise you for your loyalty if you won and call you a loser if you didn't. It's very frustrating but it is what it is.
Basketball.
For the record, I don't think they'll be picking 2nd or 3rd. But I'll be surprised if they stay at 14.
Way too many smokescreens going on.
Oh, there's smoke...been so for four str8 years over the same hot garbage. Tell me, other than the Pelicans, is there another franchise in any other league or sport 'targeted' by the entire 'media' on one single issue over a four year period? If so, then which one? I'd really like to know.
Many folks try to rationalize the truth away (it's currently in vogue and fashionable), but there is smoke....and plenty of it. And the smoke I smell has nothing to do with those rascals, the 'media, trying to burn us down.
Remember:
Once upon a time, there was guy who was cleared to play at the end of the year but refused to, when 'his team' (applied loosely) was fighting for its playoff life. Say what you will (or even delete me) but there is smoke...plenty of it. And in this case, the arsonist is hardly the media and really dwells inhouse.

here's how it goes down imo
Blazers acquire:
pick #27
Zion Williams
Hornets acquire:
Anfrenee Simmons
pick #3
Pick #14
Pelicans acquire:
pick #2
pick # 23
How about:
Blazers acquire:
--Zion (Cost: Simons, Grant, # 3 and # 23)
Hornets acquire:
--Simons
--JV
--23rd Pick (Cost: #2 and retain their # 27)
Pelicans Acquire:
--2nd Pick
--3rd Pick
--Jerami Grant (Cost: Zion, JV and retain their # 14)
Three Lottery picks in arguably deepest draft in NBA history sounds good to me.

I think the most likely outcome is that both Zion and BI are on the team next season, but that we've made some sort of clumsy half-way move to try and be all-in without having to actually go all-in, that will result in us having to give up more assets at a later date to fix.
My reasoning for this is that Griff has done precisely that every summer for the last few years.
Think 'Gayle Benson' as you read.....

Has anyone suggested that Dame could me in the mix, if any of these Zion rumors are actually true, which I have doubted this entire time; Dame and #3 for Zion and #14 as a framework
Every proposal I’ve seen so far has a 0% chance imo. If it were to happen, there has to be something bigger that hasn’t been presented yet
Would Minnesota be open to moving Towns and would Portland want him. We could give 5 first to Twolves and a few contracts. https://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2j2rg49t
Haven’t given up hope on Scoot but have to find a team Portland would like players from and said team either trying to shed salaries or moving a disgruntled player. Atlanta comes to mind but not sure what they’d want from ATL.
I agree. Five firsts doesn’t sound totally crazy in these types of trades.
If the Pels had to give up only 4 first rounders to get Scoot, he undoubtably would be a Pelican right now.
Sure, but you can say that about anything. I can arbitrarily charge $5000 for my left shoe, but the fact that that's the price I'm putting on it doesn't mean anyone is going to pay it. I like Scoot a lot, and in a strategic move where you're also shifting salary/gaining flexibility, you can give up some more for him (because you're also gaining something else) but in a straight swap-for-swap, is #3 in 2023 worth 5, 6 other firsts? Especially when the Bucks (who would be contributing some of those picks) look like they might be on the verge of collapse? I'm not so sure.
I think it depends on if you want scoot bad enough. You could always put protections on the picks. I’m sure some would need no protections like next year. I think Scoot is worth it plus gives you a building block in case you lose Zion or BI in the next year or two.
Which you’ll recoup a lot of picks if you do trade either Zion or BI.
