Fire up the tank, we still have good chance to get to #25...
I concur with others that Willie just might have lost the team. It?s a massive indictment of any head coach if all of the players suddenly down tools or tank in form this badly. If you are not an X?s and O?s Guys you have to be a guy that can rally the troops and get them to compete every night. Players can spot a lack of direction a million miles away and maybe that is what sunk in after the Nets game.
Man, this is not a defense of Willie, BUT.....
As a role player who constantly gives everything he has,
to watch, as the team puts up loss after loss, the "stars?leaders?" of this team. miss game after game. it has to take a toll.
We are not talking 5 game absences, more like 25 in a row for both stars.
No Coach in the world can keep a team motivated. working hard and winning in these circumstances.
Talent wins in the NBA, no team and no coach can win in this situation.
Eventually the role players understand they can't win without the stars and so does the coach, but they still try and fail ....
And the medical staff keeps saying.....we will reevaluate in two weeks .... set back ..... set back
Season Over
It's that the Hornets unashamedly quit so quickly in Game 4 after fans in New Orleans showed up this season with greater regularity than the team could have ever dreamed, shaming misinformed know-it-alls like me who kept telling you that local residents couldn't possibly invest their time and money into something as trivial as rooting for the local basketball team while still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. - Mark Stien ESPN
