Highly unlikely. He's mocked in the 12-16 range.

And I am confident that one of those two guys will be on the board when the Pels pick. That said, I would still bet on the Pels taking Mathurin. They have liked him for a while and by all accounts he is an awesome kid to boot
Reminds me alot of that Buddy pick, getting real Deja vu vibes.

Also, that's how octopi talk. They squibber. Yes, it's a word. Shut up.

For what it's worth, I have Agbaji as an early 2nd rounder

For no reason in particular, I’m sure.

If Agbaji's available in the early second, the Pels should try to package their 2nds for him.

So, I assume that if the choice is between Dieng and Sharpe, you would say they would take Dieng?

Sadly, yes. But the preference would be to trade down and still get him. If they cant, it sounds like they will just grab Dieng. That happens, I will feel the same as the night we took Kira. Wont be livid, but will know deep down its the wrong pick

But I was pissed when we took Trey instead of Keon so idk

Still hoping (although sounds as if it is futile) they take the big swing on Sharpe instead.

Taking Dieng at 8, I’ll believe it when I see it.

    Possibly so probably not.

For those interested, Pels finally board looked like:

    1. Jabari
    2. Chet
    3. Paolo
    4. Ivey
    5. Daniels
    6. Murray
    7. Mathurin
    8. Dieng
    9. Sochan
    10. Davis

So pretty much Dieng was gonna be the guy if he was there at 8 and they were shocked/stoked to see Daniels sitting there on the board. Got to love when someone in your top 5 falls to your pick. Thanks for the info throughout this process.

It would have been Dieng if Portland took Daniels, yeah. They had a few trade offers, but none they loved. You guys ever see that video of the Pelicans marketing department when we got the number one pick? That was basically our war room when the Blazers picked Sharpe

They would’ve picked Johnny Davis over sharpe

I didn't know they had any interest in Johnny. That's interesting.

Kind of sounds like your typical 'top ranking' kid to me. Bennedict Mathurin is talking about fighting Lebron right now. This is how kids are lol.

If you talk to a bunch of the young all-nba/allstar guys in the league right now they probably aren't all quiet, soft-spoken and humble lol.

Sounds like they were in love with Dyson. Hope he pans out.

They showed it on NBA-TV. Griffin was the "over the top" excited one of the group. He looked like Gentry when the Pels got the #1 in the lottery. He was running around high-fiving everyone in the room.

Some people within the org had Johnny a few spots higher than 10

I'd love to see that footage... I can't find it on youtube. I'll look on nba.com/
