Ayton is giving them absolutely nothing. Anyone have a deeper analysis on him so far?
Are they flying back In tonight wee hours of morning? They got people that want to go to airport and welcome them back
He's had a relatively down year from three all season long, and he's been taking them at his lowest volume in several seasons too. Was great to see him take some, including off the dribble, tonight and nail them. That's an aspect of his game that if he can bring back comfortably really raises our ceiling.
Basketball.
Team was 17-30 from three tonight. That has to be the most threes we've made in a game this year. Heck, it sometimes takes us three games to make 17 threes.
AD played three playoff series for us.
In his first (vs Golden State) he averaged 32/11/2 on 54/00/89 splits
In his second (Portland) he averaged 33/12/2 on 57/30/82 splits
In his third (Golden State) he averaged 28/15/2 on 48/25/85 splits
Also averaged about 2blks and 1.5stls a game in those 13 games.
AD's problem, when healthy, was never talent or production in New Orleans. As much as I really dislike him as a person and how he went about leaving the team, he had seasons worthy of MVP and DPOY awards while here.
You're telling me Zion isn't in shape enough to come out and destroy the Suns for 20 mins a game? We could win this series actually.
Ingram had his bounce back game and that's what I needed to see for him becoming that man... now he has to do it the rest of this series win or loose....
The best defense we had for cp3 was Jax switching on him and disrupting the suns offensive flow on the high screen and roll....we need to keep putting Jax on Paul for the high screen and roll because everytime Jonas and Nance tried to defend it ,,it was a disaster....
And we need to run pick and rolls with Jax instead of him just standing outside the 3pt line...
And if we keep pushing the pace..running and gunning then we may can get 7 games out of this now if Booker is out for some games....
And cp3 was tired in this game and couldn't take over like he did in the first game .
And the worst part of our offense was when cp3 was guarding Jax and no one on the floor slowed down to get him the ball but one time when he scored on Paul smdh ... That has to be address to get something out of that mismatch...
CJ had 23/9/8 tonight on 6/10 from 3.
32 team assists helped overcome 17 turnovers.
They took this game and did not play perfect.
Unless there is a structural issue with his foot, debut him in game 3 at home. Give the fans that. Like you say, let him play 20 minutes a game - maybe 25 at an extreme push - against mostly bench lineups (emulating the Zion + Bench juggernaut lineups from last season) and run with it.
If it can't be done for structural health reasons, fine. BUt if you're ever going to do it, do it now.
This is an underrated aspect of why Jax was good this game, and bad in the last few. Tonight he was being used to defend ballhandler in the PnR instead of the roller, and that made a huge difference. Treating Jax like a 7'0 wing instead of a big allowed him to maximise his unique mobility and length while minimising his difficult decision making.
I’m still cussing. We ********in won. You suck Chris Paul
