    Pelicans November 26th - New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz - 4-16

We won another game last game. Believe it or not, that makes us 3-4 over our last 7, which is actually not that bad. And one of the losses was by 5 points. We've been slightly less consistently losers for a little while now. Let's see how this progresses.

Tonight we play Utah, who are 12-6 and currently lead the league in ORtg while still being 6th in DRtg. They've won 4 of their last 5, and their only loss was by a single point. They have no major injuries right now, and are top 10 in the NBA in PTS, RBDS, and BLKS, while also leading the league in 2pt% and being 3rd in 3PT makes. They're good right now, real good.

    Let's see how we go.

If Willie starts either Sato or Temple of Doom....I'm done with him.

Your starting lineup was handed to you on a silver platter last game.

    Graham
    Hart
    Herb
    Ingram
    JV

    Don't overthink it.

Stolen from a Reddit post (@rfedthegoat):

Here are a couple nice little stats about Josh Hart I found that all indicate ( at least to me), what a remarkable impact he's had.

    - #1 on the Pelicans Roster(amongst players who play at least 15 mpg) in Net Rating

    - #1 on the Pelicans in True Shooting (basically scoring efficiency)

    - 26th in the entire NBA in offensive RAPTOR, one of the better advanced metrics out there

    - 2.7 points per game as the ball handler in transition, which ranks eighth-best in the West

    - Assist-to-usage rate (0.98) ranks in the 98th percentile among all forwards.

In my eyes, Hart is one of the least talked about breakout stories in the league, probably because of the Pelicans' record and because his game isn't about flashy high volume scoring. Gotta be one of the best contracts in the entire league, thankful he's part of the team!

Hart is playing well, though his numbers are slightly juiced by playing an outsized role in ball-handler deficient talent lineups.

That said, can we please stop using net rating as if it's an individual metric? It's well established at this point that it's not.

I've definitely at times been down on Hart, but he has been playing well.

The ''first major home game in December'' predictions are looking like they might still be on track. That's Denver on the 8th, for the first one, assuming they're going to need at least a week of him doing practices before they start him in a game. VS Dallas on Dec 1st would be the first home game of December overall, but that's in only 5 days so it's a bit less likely.

It's not the end all/be all of stats...it's just one of many.

But when you look at Temple and Sato posting negative +/- every damn game and most of them in the double digits....it's telling.

It should be the Dec 10th game vs Detroit, an easier game to win at home esp w/ him in the line-up for the first time. Then they play the Spurs and the Thunder so the thought process would be three easy wins, which would hopefully get the crowd into watching and maybe even believing in the team again.

Nah, it's not even one of many, at least not one that should be used when talking about the performance of an individual. Pure Net Rating is an entirely line-up dependent stat. You could play an absolute garbage player in a lineup with Steph Curry, Lebron James, Nikola Jokic, and Kawhi Leonard, and that garbage player's Net Rating would come out as a plus even if all he did was walk on court, foul twice, turn it over twice, and airball a three. Because his lineup has 4 world-beaters in it, and they'd make sure they won the minutes despite his poor play, and Net Rating measures the success of lineups not individuals.

    BPM is a different stat.

I’d be very happy going 1 and 1 in this Jazz series.

I said two months ago it would be December 8th against the Nuggets at home and our record would be 9-17. I may nail the time table, but I blew the record big time unless we come on fast in the next couple of weeks.

Utah has a color scheme for their state (canyons and sunsets), but still have the Jazz name. Just give the damn name back already.

you would think I would just accept it by now, but it still totally amazes me how NBA officiating can be so blatantly biased....

When BI tries to dribble it's always a disaster turnover.
