This would be a huge gamble that could turn into an albatross contract if Dinwiddie doesn’t regain his pre-ACL tear form. It could be the move that builds a contender or forces Zion out in 2 years. This is the type of gamble that McNamara has been pushing for. Can Aaron Nelson and Fred Vinson mold Dinwiddie to earn their paychecks?

More: John Collins and the Hawks are NOT close to an agreement

Feel like John Collins to the Mavs just makes sense on both sides?
I'm not totally against the idea after thinking on it all day. I do think the media types won't be a big fan of it though not that it matters. The terry rozier deal of a few years ago comes to mind as one that people didnt like much but looks alot better now. I guess when your a team like pelicans sometimes you gotta swing for the fences.
WHY HAVEN'T WE SIGNED ANYONE YET?!
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.
BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.
BI is about 3 to 4 years away from his prime....Zion about five to six years. Dinwiddie, even if slightly lessened, is a decent vet to lead through those years and his explosive skillset matches well with Kira.
...like....NAW and Kira need a vet to lead them. Lowry would be perfect for that. Dinwiddie is the next best.
If my only concern is how to win next season, Dinwiddie doesn't excite me. If I'm thinking about the development of our youth, I really like him. And a three year contract fits in to where he can help us progress and then we can move on as our core is entering into their prime. He fits the timeline like a glove.
You guys know I like me some Lonzo. I prefer Dinwiddie because of this PG leadership for Kira and NAW angle.
