Now we have to make up two games to Portland (and of course we don't play them head to head). Our best bet might be to catch Memphis.

And Nurkic played 33 minutes coming off a major injury.
We are playing the clippers tomorrow.
Zion will play 30 seconds.
It’s over. Why did we even show up!?
Main hope is schedule. Memphis still has to play the Jazz, Thunder, Raptors, Celtics, Bucks.
Portland still has to play the Celtics, Rockets, Nuggets, Clippers, 76ers, and Mavericks.
Pelicans only have the Clippers and Memphis left as far as current playoff teams.

Eh, sort of.
While it's worth noting that yes, being the higher seed gets you an easier first round matchup, we also have to consider that home/away advantages largely don't exist anymore. So that aspect of wanting a higher seed (so that you have home field advantage) is gone.
The only advantage is the hopes of the easier opponent, and frankly if you're the Bucks I don't think you really care too much about which garbage team you end up crushing into powder in the first round; might mean more to you to keep Giannis and Middleton rested knowing you're going to be fine against either of them, and let them just save their bodies. We can see that the Bucks in particular already follow something like this; it's why Giannis barely plays 30 minutes a night. Sure, they could let him play 36 and let him average 32/16/8, but why bother when you're winning anyway and rest means something?
