Sean Payton tested positive and sounds like is doing okay.

A Tournament?
When #NBA returns is a mystery. But to save this season, a modified tourney in Las Vegas might its best option

“I think logistically, the NBA is in a position to experiment with many potential solutions” #Blazers @CJMcCollum told @CNBC #SportsBiz https://t.co/ECHX0tOkSV
This is the right answer and is much better than a tournament at one venue for many reasons:

I don't see it as much better than the tournament idea of the NBA.
I would even prefer a FIBA worldcup type of format : 4 group for each conference distributed thanks to current standing, two best teams of each group advance in second group phase of 2 groups per conference while keeping head-to-head record. Then two best of each group face the two best of each group in series of seven like conference semi finals and you go back to the old playoff format. If there is any draw in the group phases higher seed always win. Also in the group phase, higher seed always get home court advantage and all group games are played at his venue.
This way you give a shot to everyone while strongly favoring the teams that perfomed the better in the regular season. You end the season on maximum 26 games.
If you want to apply it to the current standing it would be:
Group East A : Milwaukee/Orlando/Atlanta/Cleveland at Milwaukee
Group East B : Toronto/Brooklyn/Chicago/Detroit at Toronto
Group East C : Boston/Philadelphia/Charloote/New York at Boston
Group East D : Miami/Indiana/Washington at Miami
Group A : Lakers/Memphis/Minnesota/Golden State at Los Angeles
Group B : Clippers/Dallas/Sacramento/Phoenix at Los Angeles (doable if each team plays every two days and each group alternates)
Group C : Denver/Houston/New Orleans/San Antonio at Denver
Group D : Utah/OKC/Portland at SLC
(there is an argument for making the 3-team group for the top seed regarding one more bye game but in this case it may not be an advantage and also you increase the chance of being eliminated at the first stage with just two bad games)
Then you have :
Group East 1 with Winner of EastA, 2nd of EastA, Winner of EastD, 2nd of EastD at the venue of the higher seed
Group East 2 with Winner of EastB, 2nd of EastB, Winner of EastC, 2nd of EastC at the venue of the higher seed
Group West 1 with Winner of WestA, 2nd of WestA, Winner of WestD, 2nd of WestD at the venue of the higher seed
Group West 2 with Winner of WestB, 2nd of WestB, Winner of West C, 2nd of West C at the venue of the higher seed
Then in seven game series :
Winner of East 1 face 2nd of East 2
Winner of East 2 face 2nd of East 1
Winner of West 1 face 2nd of West 2
Winner of West 2 face 2nd of West 1
You can even cut short of few games by making the conference semi-finals best of five.
You play the first phase group in 6 days, 2 days for travelling to new venues then 4 days for 2nd phase group. So you're basically compressing 2 month (end of regular season + first two rounds of the playoffs) in 12 days.
Guess what Lebron has hinted that they are all stupid ideas and he is out of shape. Which probably means he is not playing in June or July. Also might mean lots of players who don’t need the check won’t play. Team could be loaded with G-League players if they ever do get started.
Chinese League pushes back season again. Now we looking at August start if anything gets done. Possibly only taking top 4 teams in a playoff. Lots of things getting thrown up now.
"I have no idea [when the NBA will return]. ... I haven't had any conversations where anybody's even discussed an actual date at this point."
