I think Favors could be back and a relatively reasonable deal.

Money won't be the impediment unless the Pelicans make it so (Pelicans hold his Bird Rights). No, I think it will be a Derick Favors Decision exclusively. Like it or not, his skills do not fit the Pelicans style of play and he knows it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him return to Utah or sign with an Eastern Conference team (Brooklyn or Boston, anybody?).

Let's say Favors does walk.....who do you replace him with?

Personally, I think the fact that he doesn't fit is what actually makes him fit....in that we need exactly what he nrings....but maybe there's more out there I'm missing.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

I have thought about this a lot. While Favors may not be a perfect fit, it's hard to deny that his ability and experience has proven valuable to the Pelicans. That said, I think he is going to be looking for more money than the Pelicans should pay for his skill set/fit. Myles Turner would cost the Pelicans more in money and would be expensive in players/picks in a trade, but I think he's a better fit. I don't think that will happen though.

Ultimately, if Favors leaves and they don't bring Okafor back, that leaves room for a bridge center with experience for a year AND a drafted player. A bridge center would give Hayes more time to develop and wouldn't put everything on the shoulders of a rookie and a second year player. So it all comes down to what they want in the draft. If they are drafting around 12/13, then Vernon Carey or Filip Petrusev could be players Griff and Langdon like, although I am not sure Carey would be a good fit either. If they want a different position in the first round, there are lots of PF/C types that could be available when they pick in the second round.

Ultimately, I like their options better at center in next year's draft. That gives them another year to see what they have in Hayes and who would complement Hayes and Zion better in the post.

I pretty much agree here. While it's clear Favors doesn't fit the mould for the type of centre you would design to perfectly slot into this team, the fact is that we desperately need someone who boxes out, plays consistent defense, gets defensive boards, can defend the PnR, etc, at the C position. He does those things and he does them well. Obviously in a perfect world he'd also stretch the floor and be 6 years younger, but sometimes perfection can be the enemy of the good and giving him up to search for the perfect player who isn't there could damage the team. If the right guy is there, like a Myles Turner, then sure, letting Favors go might be the right idea, but that's a big if.

If we're drafting at 12/13 and we pick Vernon Carey, I take back a lot of the good things I've said about Langdon Carey is a 2nd round prospect to me. Petrusev is more forgivable. So much value around 12/13 that taking someone like Carey would be a shocking value play to me.

After today, Jamal Murray May be available. I’m not sure what consequences result from porn. Crazy times.
