Game night rolls around again, but this time, there's something a little different going on. But before we get to that, let me just cram in some key info about this matchup.
Tonight we take on the Spurs. We've gone 5-2 over our last 7 games, and they've gone 4-3 over their last 7. They are 19-23, to our 17-27. We are fighting with them for the 8th seed, so as with Memphis, every win is vital not only for our own record but to add losses to the opponent and fight out the season-series in case of ties. San Antonio is 9th in ORtg, 23rd in DRtg, and are top 8 in FG%, 3PT%, and FT%. They are top 15 in rebounds, assists, and blocks. This game will not be a cakewalk: they've been playing better as of late, and Aldridge seems to have finally figured out that he's allowed to shoot threes: his current rate is unsustainable (47% on 5 per game, for the last 10 games!) but it's still a big threat.
All of that is secondary though. Do we want a win? Of course we do, and we'll be fighting for it: this is an important game for a bunch of reasons. But we all know that there's only one real story in this game.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Let's Dance.
