Russel, get the Lakers band back together?

This is a very good deal. The difference in talent between 4 and 8 is nearly negligible, gaining 17 allows you to make a risky-bust-or-boom draft that you wouldn't feel comfortable making higher up, and another second rounder (while not particularly important) can never hurt. Combine that with the protected Cavs pick, Griff essentially gained 3 firsts and a 2nd for 1 first. Yes, we likely never see the Cavs pick, but it gives a lot of flexibility either for drafting multiple pieces as projects or for combining into trades.
Basketball.
The Cleveland pick protections
I ran out of room - but also the heavily protected Cleveland pick for next year.

Here are the protections on that pick. Likely turns into 2nds in 2021 and 2022 unless Cleveland falls into late lottery next season or makes playoffs. pic.twitter.com/Mmt1fVwObl
Griff just expanded the ''#4'' from the LA trade into #8, #17, #35, and the 2020 Cavs FRP.
Griffin just squeezing every other team in the league, getting blood from the stone.
Not sure why we did deal before being on clock. What if Barrett falls?
This is awesome, I think. Gotta put us in the mix for Vucevic?

[QUOTE=Pelicanidae;1496144]We trade 57 to Atlanta as part of this deal.
You're right, thanks!!! Maybe a undrafted FA? LOL
They even took Hill. Praise the Lord
You know, at the same time as this is a good trade for us, props to Atlanta as well. If they love Hunter and want to guarantee him at #4, then good for them. Sounds like a cliche but this trade works for both teams.
Hawks enter next season with a Trae Young, DeAndre Hunter, John Collins core that looks just great for them.
Not sure what's going on but it's a lot of movement. Hopefully it has purpose. I rather keep the picks but not sure if that's the play.
With the TWolves trading into 6, could we see the worst case scenario-
1 - Zion
2 - Ja
3 - RJ
4 - Hunter
5 - Culver
6 - Garland
7 - White
8 - ???
Could we be choosing between Reddish, Hayes, and Doumbouya? Maybe Goga?
Hope someone sneaks into top 7 and pushes a player down. Seems like a big dropoff after 7.
The only thing that bothers me is that now he has the money to go after Kevin Love. We all have heard he is a big Love supporter. His number is just too big.
David Griffin is actually who people think Danny Ainge is.

But also likable.
No way Cleveland is smart enough to take Culver at #5. They're going to take Garland, and run two undersized guards who shoot well but can't pass. It will be a mess and they'll love it.
I don't see a big drop-off at all. Goga and Hayes both have higher upside than White, Hunter, and probably Garland as well.
If Coby white goes at 7 the pick at 8 has to be either sekou or Hayes
