    Free Agency Prediction Cards

Come on everyone, fill out your FA Prediction card. Yes it's hypothetical, yes it's all dependent on other stuff, it's just a bit of fun.

    Here's mine:

    Kevin Durant: New York Knicks
    Kawhi Leonard: Toronto Raptors
    Klay Thompson: Golden State Warriors
    Kyrie Irving: New York Knicks
    Jimmy Butler: Los Angeles Lakers
    Khris Middleton: Milwaukee Bucks
    Nikola Vucevic: Los Angeles Lakers
    D'Angelo Russell: Brooklyn Nets
    Kemba Walker: Charlotte Hornets
    Tobias Harris: Philadelphia 76ers
    DeMarcus Cousins: Dallas Mavericks
    Malcolm Brogdon: Milwaukee Bucks.

Note that this is what I think WILL happen, not what I WANT to happen, necessarily.
    Basketball.

This is fun. I will do this when I have time to sit down and think about it.

AD’s trade destination really influences the choices tremendously. Without AD, I think the Knicks miss out on the truly big fish and Kyrie and KD go to Brooklyn.

I can see that with Kyrie, but I feel like Durant goes to NYC either way.

AD’s trade destination will influence FA tremendously. The Knicks really have to empty the chest, because I predict they will lose out big time if they don’t land AD. Let’s pretend the news rumors are true and AD goes to Boston.

    Kevin Durant: Nets
    Kawhi Leonard: Raptors
    Klay Thompson: Warriors
    Kyrie Irving: Nets
    Jimmy Butler: Lakers
    Khris Middleton: Bucks
    Nikola Vucevic: Mavericks
    D'Angelo Russell: Knicks
    Kemba Walker: Hornets
    Tobias Harris: 76ers
    DeMarcus Cousins: Lakers
    Malcolm Brogdon: Clippers
    Julius Randle: Knicks

I switched my Kawhi pick to Clippers.

You add the version of Kawhi that is about to win Finals MVP to a Clippers team that would have space to add another star or other key players in addition to Kawhi this summer, and that's a team that could be good enough to win in the West. I don't think they trade for AD, so I'm not sure how they fill out the team, but I think Kawhi ultimately decides that he can have as much success as he has had in Toronto in southern California.

What would it mean for Kawhi's legacy to go to Clippers and win a Finals MVP with a 3rd team?!? What would it mean to his legacy if he won it next year?!? With the Clippers?!?

Kawhi's legacy is already solid gold, tbh. Hall of Famer guaranteed, not even 30 years old. 2x DPOY, 2x FMVP (after this series), 2x Champion. One of only three names to be FMVP for more than one team: the other two are Lebron and Kareem. Ended two dynasty teams, one in Miami and one in Golden State. Legend.

I could see him staying in Toronto just because of how successful he was. Rumours went around a while ago that part of the reason he wanted to leave San Antonio is that they weren't doing anything for him as a legacy player. His career was being overshadowed by Pop, and people were even still saying he was a system player. He'll never have that problem in Toronto: he's the entire country's saviour.

I agree. But also still wonder what leaving and winning a 3rd FMVP for the Clippers would mean. Like you said, if he completes the series this year he’ll have done something only two other players have ever done. “Legend”.

But if he does it with a 3rd team. And that 3rd team is the Clippers?!? He’s in the GOAT conversation. Might even be leading it.

    ....

Nah. He has 0 MVPs. He'd be even with Lebron for FMVPs, but still behind MJ. Not the scorer MJ was, not the passer Lebron is. Better defender than both, but the resume is just sparse for him now. He needs a ton more all-NBA teams, a few more all-defensive teams, a bunch more all-star teams, generally just sustained excellence.

I don't think mine has changed too much, although given recent events there have been a few shifts.

    Kevin Durant: NY Knicks
    Kawhi Leonard: Toronto Raptors
    Klay Thompson: Golden State
    Kyrie Irving: Brooklyn Nets
    Jimmy Butler: 76ers
    Khris Middleton: Milwaukee Bucks
    Nikola Vucevic: LA Lakers
    D'Angelo Russell: Phoenix Suns
    Kemba Walker: Charlotte Hornets
    Tobias Harris: Absolutely no idea.
    DeMarcus Cousins: Dallas Mavericks
    Malcolm Brogdon: Bucks
Al Horford: Not sure. Whichever team it is that's apparently offering 4 years $112m.
    Brook Lopez: Bucks

Don’t cop out on us with Harris, Randle, and Horford.

    Fine, I'll say

    Harris: Sixers
    Randle: Nets
Horford: uhhhh screw it, New Orleans Pelicans.

I have no faith in any of those judgements and they're just random guesses for the most part.
