Agreed! I think the reason why this is important is not to prove to fans they are staying, but to calm the national attention down to avoid distractions moving forward. I never understood why people thought she'd sell and move the team. Mrs B is the entire reason Mr Benson bought the Pelicans to begin with. She WANTED the team.
Sounds like Dennis is the real owner. At least knows the logistics of running the team. Which is okay to me. Gayle seems okay with it obviously too. Smart decision by Gayle. It is a good thing we have Dennis.

No one knows anything about us but us. This was all rumors from people on the West Coast and media types who want Seattle with a team again. That's it. And truth is, none of this will even matter. Rumors will die down for a month or two. But fans who aren't paying attention will keep calling us poverty franchise and the like.
The Bensons have been great ever since they took over. They've had some bad breaks and backfires but they are constantly making moves to keep us competitive.
Tbh only people entirely ignorant of the situation thought this was gonna happen.

I know for a fact that Tom Benson wanted nothing to do with the Pelicans. Gayle is the one who talked him into saving the team with one of her main reasons for all of the people who would lose their job. Tom Benson backed her on the idea and used his power to get in the bidding for the team and fell in love with the Pelicans with her. Anybody that knows this lady would know we couldn’t have our sports teams in the hands of a better owner or person.
