Y’all are funny because the leverage/media reports that favor the Pels position are gospel... while the rest of the reports are biased media spin or only hurts those teams leverage.

    I don’t blame y’all. I blame the schools y’all went to.

I think he’d trade something for a rental. But as he says, it depends on the package, ie not everything he would if he had a commitment.

Yet somehow this gets conveyed through as he’s all in and doesn’t care.

Celtics have the better assets, as I’ve said and some people can’t read, so if Ainge was all in, why negotiate with the Lakers at all this week? It’s very obvious and clear to all of you that 1. Ainge will offer everythjng 2. Celtics offer is vastly superior ...

So seriously, why are Pels ... who could be focused on Niko/Julius trade or NFL draft ...negotiating with Lakers who have “trash” assets? Is Ainge or anyone else going to increase offers they can’t make until June anyway just because the Lakers throw in more trash assets? Yet...clearly Pels and Lakers are talking.
Oh for God's sake. How many times do people have to tell you that we ARE NOT CERTAIN that the Celtics will win the sweepstakes, and that we are not certain that he'll offer everything at once, and that even if he does, it's not the clear-cut best trade (NY still exists)?

Like, do we have to preface every post with a long disclaimer? Come on, man, stop putting words in other people's mouths.

Ainge will never say anything that makes it sound like he's desperate or eager to throw assets at situations. He is a smart GM, and he has always been crafty. He is never going to go on the radio and sound like he's willing to spill everything he's got. Of course he's going to say it depends on the package, it depends on the deal, it depends on the player. Why on earth would he say something different and tank his position?? When has Ainge ever done that? He plays his cards close to his chest and don't put his foot in his mouth, that's why he does well.

We are negotiating with the Lakers because whilst they have the worst offer, they still have an offer, and you need to keep all interested parties on the hook so that there is a degree of competition between them. Close the Lakers down now, and you remove a leveraging partner in trade negotiations in the future. There's a reason that every offer they have given us has been rejected, dismissed as low-balling, etc etc, and a reason that Woj says that there has been little-to-no progress made: because LA are not there are a prime target, they are there as a tool to keep Boston and New York honest in their offers.

ALL of this has been explained to you multiple times by multiple people. At this point, I'm fully willing to believe that you don't WANT to understand what people are saying and why.
    Basketball.

You're the most condescending dude on this board not named Michael McNamara. Jesus Christ.

The sheer number of people responding with perspectives I disagree with and think are wrong, especially when they’re echoing the same biased and inconsistent conclusions is doing nothing for me.

So I agree, you are correct (about that).

Way to completely dodge the actual point and content of the post. You've got some real talent in that, you've managed to skilfully ignore everyone's explanations in order to preserve the most isolated, myopic, and condescending position on the board. Well done.

    Lol. Is dissent not allowed?!?

And I only became condescending (if you'd actually like to go back and review) when it was implied I'd said something I didn't (I'm very specific in what I say), and when it became obviously clear that you all could literally post Danny Ainge's words... and NOT READ THEM.

Looks like Lakers aren't feeling great about their ability to get a deal done before the deadline, and Ainge is still totally engaged in the trade, regardless of any extenuating circumstances.

Oh no that doesn't count it didn't come straight from his mouth even though it did cough cough

When you have to call Woj, the most trusted reporter in the NBA, a liar simply to keep arguing your point...

I posted Ainge's words, highlighted the key parts that I was literally responding to, and talked about a perspective on them. You can feel free to disagree about the interpretation of those words, but to dismiss everyone else as not being able to read because they disagree on the meaning of an intentionally ambiguous statement, and saying things like you blame their schooling, is just asking for vitriol.

Dissent is allowed, sure, people on this board disagree about all kinds of things. I disagree with Tinman about the value of the Memphis pick, and we've had some talks about that. The difference is, is that Tinman listens to what I have to say, and puts forward counterarguments. You don't. You dismiss everythign everyone else says, then throws up smokescreen statements about nothing to avoid ever having to actually engage with the discussion. That doesn't get good results.

I would say it's not even a case of taking Ainge's word. It's about understanding the way GMs talk in public.

NMThreeMVP seems to think that unless Ainge released a public statement, with his name attached to it, with an itemised list detailing his absolute willingness to trade every player for AD, regardless of what AD says, then we can't say anything.

NBA GMS never talk like that. It ruins their negotiating positions and risks tampering fines. You will not find Ainge saying things like that. Instead you have to read between the lines and make inferences. That means you can be wrong, or that sometimes there are multiple validinterpretations. Nobody is saying you can't disagree. It's just the difference between having an actual good faith discussion, and being a troll.

I love reading Lakers Twitter. They saying stuff like 'why would they wait on the Celtics. Nothing they can add would be better than Ingram, Ball and zubac and picks.' LoL. Don't they realize that their young players aren't good enough. Their picks aren't good enough. Their overwhelming offer is pretty trash.

  21. #346
What happens if the Celtics gets to the playoffs and Tatum and Brown go off again?

That hurts our chances of getting both of them I suppose, and definitely changes the complexion of the trade.

If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Said it before, I'll say it again:

LA Lakers are like billionaires. They have such a historical wealth, and such a heightened ego, and have gotten their way for so long, that the idea of somebody saying no to them is baffling and they believe things are inflated in value simply by association with them.

The example I used was Howard Schultz. He's come out and made many unpopular statements, he's polling awfully with every demographic, keeps getting owned every time he opens his mouth, but he will not stop because he believes that by virtue of being a billionaire, he's right inherently.

    Lakers are Schultz.

    They lose to the Warriors.

Unless either of them average 30ppg on 50% efficiency, AD still has their playoff performances beat.

Yeah. If you're the Celtics, right now, not only are you wanting AD very badly to play for your team, you also see the Knicks as the next likely spot for him to land and that Kyrie is probably following him. So you're not just trying to build your super team, you're also trying to prevent one from forming in your cupcake conference. It's all or nothing for them and the Knicks.
