Thread: Pelicans underwhelmed by Lakers' initial offers for Anthony Davis

  1. #226
If Demps makes a deal solely with the Lakers by Thursday, then he will be unemployed by Friday. Any deal centered around the Lakers young talent (that term is used very loosely) is a bad one.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

The more players and assets Demps can get back in a trade can help his job security. It doesn’t have to all come from one team if a deal does happen now

    DING DING DING!

Demps is probably going to be unemployed shortly anyways, but you have to figure this lakers deal would get approval from some combo of loomis and ownership too(probably ownership consulting with loomis to see if its ok).....

but from all the smoke now it certainly looks like this may get done.

For those wondering the latest supposed 'improved' offer is

we get: Zo, Kuz, Ingram, Rondo, Stephenson, Beasley, 2 FRPs

    lakers get: AD and Hill

Why not fire Demps before letting him negotiate with Magic/LA and get to trade execution stage. So essentially Demps is negotiating for Loomis

One thing that has been getting me for the last few days has been how far the Lakers have fallen. Once a proud franchise, they are slithering on their bellies now trying to stay relevant. It started with Jerry West leaving, and Mitch taking over, and then it was amped up when Phil left. Now (even with LBJ) they are a shell of who they were even 7 years ago. They are a team getting by on name and location alone. The only thing stopping them from being the Knicks 2.0 is that there is only one James Dolan on all of God’s green goodness.

If you get Zo here you will have a Jim Jackson 2.0 situation over again.

So, "From all this smoke". You say?
Do you mean that "From all this smoke" the media is blowing up your rear end"
Is that the Smoke you believe?
Man, if you fall for the Media Kabuki theater ? Gracious.

these fantasies about zion being traded are just that.....and boston and the lakers would both know that they arent going to pass on Zion

boston's package, assuming it has tatum and one of the good picks is going to be the best imo. But this idea that we are going to get Tatum + Brown + *multiple* good picks...I don't see that. Be nice if it were true, but I just dont see it. Would much much rather have that then this lakers garbage though
    You are 100% Wrong.

Agreed. All the smoke is coming directly from Klutch, intended to invoke the very emotions we're seeing from some Pelican fans who don't have the fortitude to hold the line. If we believe Demps is a lame duck GM, do we really want to do this trade before the summer?

you also want to keep the Lakers around to make the other teams scared that it might actually happen so your offer better be good

if it happens we can send ball out to a team to get something for him.......since he want to make west coast noise..send him to chicago or Toronto...

by him talking about the suns being the best fit for him makes that fake trade that came out yesterday about a 3 team trade with pelicans,,lakers and suns being a done deal look some what real lol...

There would need to be a third team for this since the Laker's would not be able to take back that much salary in one deal. Edit: Actually it does work salary wise.

To me, while its a great offer, their picks would be low first rounders which are not worth much and I think there are better players available form other teams. Not to mention the possibility of the Zion sweepstakes.

Trading him now makes zero sense unless they just want to end the madness and move on.

    @ScottDKushner

Based on every indiciation the Pelicans have been given, Danny Ainge and the Celtics are not scared off by any of the Anthony Davis reports and fully plan to go after AD this summer.

As long as that’s true, I find it hard to believe this saga ends by Thursday.

I'm just gonna repost what I said hours before any of this news broke:

There's going to be more of this stuff too. Don't sweat it. Even if it's real reports about us "negotiating", remember, we want the Lakers around AND we want them thinking they have a chance. That keeps the pressure on the Knicks and Celtics. What's better than 2 teams actively fighting for AD? 3.

whats getting me is that when i saw yesterday that we was making a counter offer with player,,i figure it would be for hill.....but im saying to myself ,,why we are not trying to trade hill before the dead line regardless?..

so now im guessing that we are letting everyone know who will trade for AD that hill will be a part of any trade with AD if we dont move hill by thursday...

I don't even think it's that's deep. I think we simply keep asking the Lakers for harder and harder stuff to keep them strung along.

Maybe Hill will be included but really his deal doesn't matter a ton anymore. He only has one year after this season and we probably want him to ensure the tank the rest of this season anyway.

the tank commander will lead us to the promise land of the #1 pick. Oh we only have a 3 to 9 % chance of that happening? no worries the tank commander will make it so....lo

Yeah, now if worse came to worse, being that we wont be in CAPSTRAP hell anymore, we could stretch him next year & pay him 4 mill for 3 yrs. Not ideal, but not fatal
