Did they play in the ABA?
I guess I am showing my age, but my father took me to the Buccaneer playoff games in 1967 and 1968 at the Loyola Field House. Somewhere in my attic are autographs of Doug Moe, Go Go Govan and a few others. The only real memory I have is of Larry Brown nailing a three pointer. Remember the red, white and blue basketballs?

Err...Sambo...the three pointer didn't show up until the 80's man!
I *believe* the 3 pointer was invented in the ABA. But don't quote me on thatOriginally posted by NorthlakeHornet

The three pointer was always a part of the ABA. The ABA needed a few things to make them different. HBO did a special last year on the ABA and interviewed some of the original players, Larry Brown was one they interviewed. I believe the NBA adopted the three pointer when the leagues 'merged'. That is, a few of the ABA teams joined the NBA (Indiana, San Antonio and Nets).
They adopted the three in the '79-'80 season, about 4 years after the merge with the ABA. Ironically, that was NOLA's first year without the Jazz.
I believe the Nuggets came from the ABA too. I think the NBA adopted 4 ABA teams.Originally posted by Sambo

I remember the ABA well. I went to many of the Carolina Cougars games and enjoyed them all. I honestly can't remember the Bucs however, but wonder if the Tampa Bay Bucanneers football team derived the name from the New Orleans Bucs, or was that just a coinsidence?
they probably did rip it off ,copycatsOriginally posted by TealBug

Northlake...Sambo's right. The ABA invented the three point shot...long before it showed up in the NBA or college.Originally posted by NorthlakeHornet

A football game can't stop hurricanes.
It can't fix levees.
Or rebuild houses.
But it can let a city know...
That it's a city once again.
Welcome back, New Orleans.
Now thats some spiffy jerseys huh?
LOL, probably not bad though for way back then.
