That's an awesome way to get more shooting on this team! Smh
Biggest issue with Rondo is his defense. He was absolutely terrible on D under George Karl. Much bigger issue than his questionable jumpshot.
I think that's fair.
And most of it is pure effort. He of course used to be maybe the best defensive PG in the game. Then he quit trying. Or more accurately, started just trying on certain plays. I don't know what it would take for him to reengage there, but a team with a chance to make some real noise with him at the helm might be a good start.
His shooting woes are actually a bit overstated anymore. He's not a good/natural shooter, but he's taught himself how to be a decent 3pt shooter now, albeit on low volume. Last two years:
2016-17 Rondo .376, Jrue .356
2015-16 Rondo .365, Jrue .336

So they're trying to pair Rondo & Jrue in the backcourt.
Everyone needs a PG that can't be on the floor at the end of games b/c of their FT shooting.
How much improvement can be done on 3pt shooting?
I mean, I know a guy like Rondo isn't going to get much better or he already would have to become a complete player.
But, like with AD. He decided to work on his 3pt shot and got decent at it. Now that is a player with an immense amount of talent working on something he probably neglected perfecting his inside game. But how much could people like Jrue, Hill, and even Moore improve in an off-season if the staff told them, this is the future, focus on it?
And yes, I realize this question is posed out of pure sadness that we have signed no one, yet.
I don't trust San Antonio guys when removed from the Spurs system.
If Demps mamages to get Simmons and adds Rondo I would call it a pretty solid offseason. Shooting would be a problem, but at least you would have a solid guard and wing defense between Jrue, Simmons and Hill and Rondo did step up on D in the playoffs, so there is hope that "Playoff-Rondo" is actually still a thing.
But I doubt the Pel's have the capspace to add both of them.
Dell: Well Jrue, we gave you $126 Million. That's enough to expect you to cover up for Rondo's shortcomings.
Rondo shot .440 in corner 3s last year btw.
Is this forum working?

Rondo shot a career worst FG% (40.8) last season, despite shooting well above his career avg (and a career best) from 3 (37.6).

So with Rondo & Hill on the court,
Pelicans only have 3 players to guard.
But I suppose since everyone wanted to try Rubio,
Rondo is basically a Rubio-lite on a shorter, cheaper contract.
Should be Bledsoe or bust. Rondo gonna kill our spacing.
