I'd be honoured to have knight and his contract as opposed to Asik

  2. #1652
are there new rumors with the Pels & Suns popping up? Why is Bledsoe and Knight now being thrown around?
"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin

True. You can still play Knight. Asik you can still hand him a towel on occasion and ask him to wave it.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Are we also going to get back Evan Turner, Luol Deng and Mosgov? Because that would be better for us.

This doesn't even mention that we are up against the luxury tax and taking on a salary like that is completely unrealistic along with Bledsoe.

Long story short, let's please not mention Knight again as someone that is even a possible Pelican.

One of our kind has put together this deal

    The Trade:

    Bledsoe
    Knight

    For

    Ajinca
    Pondexter
    Cook
    Crawford
    Toupane
    Asik
    1st rd pick
    1st rd swap option
    2nd pick

If my math is correct that saves them 2-9 million this summer, 15 million next summer, and another 10-12 million the summer after.
We are stuck holding the bag for Knight into a third year when he could be a prime candidate for a buyout, stretch or *hopefully* trade filler for a blockbuster deal (his salary could prove valuable if a team needs to dump a star) to cap off the BoogieBrow experiment. I'm not a cap guru but I think this can be the parameter of an overall net positive trade for the Pels.

    It's 2 years and $24 million vs 3 years and $45 million.

And I would rather Asik waiving a towel than actually having Knight on the court for us.

If have to chew on cellophane in order to get Bledsoe?! I try for Lin & if he becomes a 1 yr guy, then we go after Wall. Or sign Rondo on the short.

For my own health/sanity can Phoenix not be mentioned unless something substantial is found.

  9. #1659
Yeah, I guess that is true. If getting Bledsoe requires you to take Knight then that would eliminate Wall next year. But there must be another way to get Bledsoe and Wall. We need to talk to the guy at Kentucky who was paying them all, maybe we could pick his brain to see what he did.

Or you could just not pay attention to the post. But, if it bothers you to the point of insanity- Seek professional help-ASAP . Good luck .

RPM is a single stat that doesn't always tell the entire story of who a guy was playing with, injuries, or whether or not he was put in the right position to succeed. Tony Parker, Avery Bradley, Dennis Schroder, Shaun Livingston, Chris Dunn, Dante Exum, Reggie Jackson, Emmanuel Mudiay, Jordan Clarkson, Wade Baldwin... which one of these would you turn down if we could get them on this team? They all had negative RPM. Some are vets, some are younger players. It's one advanced stat. Give it rest. It's not the be all, end all of basketball.

The only way you're getting Wall as a free agent is if Wall doesn't sign his extension. That's a lot of money to give up. I really don't see players passing up on the super max.

Best case scenario for us would be Wall signing his super max, the Wiz failing to make the playoffs in a crappy East, and us being able to trade Holiday, other salary, and picks for Wall. Wall, if he ever came, would be a Holiday replacement and I don' think taking on Knight in order to get Bledsoe changes the dynamic much.

I mentioned Thabo a while back as someone I'd like to add to compete with Hill and add depth to our wing. Solid vet.

I don't think that you can swing it financially, can you? Taking on Bledsoe, Knight, and still having a chance at Wall?

That's not a scenario at all. How can you lead with "Washington not making the playoffs?"Once you do that, the rest of the scenario is moot . Also, in this fantasy scenario, we would have to pay more than what the possibilities might otherwise be. Bledsoe would be an expiring, but Knight would not. We would have to find someone to take Knights 15 mil. If we want Wall, next year is the time to strike & YES, Knights 15plus would be a huge albatross .

IMO, the problem isn't financial it's that you probably have to give up picks in order to get Bledsoe even if you also take back Knight. I really don't see players passing up the super max. Wall will sign it. Which means we'd have to trade for him after he signs it in order to get him, but we won't really have valuable picks.

Only way I see us getting Wall is if players on our team up their value. Holiday, Hill, Diallo, whoever. It sounds crazy now, but if Holiday is healthy and balling and Hill takes a leap... then we have a chance. But then we probably would be less interested in Wall for $40m per.
