False. That was last season. This season many thought we were a playoff team we underachieved. Gentry admitted himself

The final record is an important thing, but it's the lazy man's way of assessing a coach. You all rave about Utah's GM, and after 2 losing seasons he gave Snyder a 5 year extension. If you all were managing that team, Snyder might have been fired for not having any winning seasons.
Actually I was a fan of the Snyder hiring from the jump. That guy can coach, the guy we have mumbling his way to all these loses can't. They guy in Utah dealt with more injuries than we did, and didn't have a top 5 taken on his team, and he did okay I think. Gentry is a career loser. At the end of the day being a nice guy isn't what keeps a coach around, wins and losses do, so yeah, wins and losses are the most important thing.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Dantoni does suck, what's your point?

Wait, this last year was about getting building blocks in place? What kind of plan takes more than 7 years to get in place? This makes me think of that Johnny Cash song "one piece at a time" where the guy steals a car one piece at a time until he has a car with body parts from the 50's-70's. I mean seriously, if this is how we are building the team (the previous years it was injuries, last year it was finding the right pieces, next year it's about the players understanding the system, in two more years we will crack the 8th seed, by the time AD leaves us we will be a 6th seed). I mean Jesus, this whole plan is a losing plan, and if this team didn't represent my city, I would have been done with them, and back to being a Jazz fan years ago.

If your hopes for next year hinge on the health of one player then you need a coach who will be able to coach up that one player's backups, because you know there will always be injuries...because #Pelslife

Dantoni only had 2 bad seasons. Gentry only had 1 good season.

    1-6

    Since we are on retreads,

Mike Brown or Mike Dantoni? Okay I'll squeeze in Gentry.

    Brown, Dantoni, Gentry

    Who is the better coach?

Dantoni only he 2 bad seasons? Before this year he coached 12 years and had a losing record for 6 of them. His overall record was 455-426. He was the definition of a retread coach before he got to the Rockets.

Gordon and Ryan left. The first time we tried to build around AD injuries destroyed us. So this last summer was about getting building blocks for the future around him again.

Remember how the narrative changed this past summer from making the playoffs to improving as a team?

I agree coaching staff has to fit team. The problem for coaches is it easier to change coaches then it is team. Not to say I'm against Gentry and I also agree Demps is the biggest issue, but if Gentry is a space and pace guru and this team isn't built that way we should probably move on.

Guys the Point I make about Alvin Gentry are plain facts.
Frustrated watching the same line loss after loss from the Pelicans.
On paper sure it looks like we are a better team with D.C.
But are we? We won some big games without him all season.
DC plays his style of game. He wants touches and likes to put it on the floor often.
That hurts a true offense with a REAL Point Guard not what we have on this roster currently.
Between DC and AD these guys take all the touches that combined is about 50 plus points per game.
Jrue Holiday will never gel with these guys. His spot shooting style don't fit. He is not explosive off the dribble like Harden, Westbrook, Irving, Wall, Thomas to create open looks for the 2 guard or dump it inside due to his big men are standing at the Arch.
I don't see it changing one bit as is with the current staff.
We need a Head Coach with authority that will instill discipline that D.C. and AD will respect play inside the block and bang the boards.

Coaches are easier to change and to be clear if he gets fired that's fine, I'm not tied to Gentry at all.

I do think he showed to a reasonable degree he can adapt his system to AD and Cousins though. We don't have traditional bigs so I don't think we need a traditional coach for them.

My main point was saying Gentry can't adapt is false. He changed his system when Cousins got here and now they have data to go into the offseason and get it adapted more.

They really gonna roll out Gentry and Demp this year again... WHAT!? After starting 0-7 and 0-8... We are sticking with them... I want to support AD and Boogie, but I'm done with Gentry and Demps. I can deal with Demps, but I want Gentry gone. He's a a glorified Offensive coordinator that can't run a team, build talent, or build a team around his talent. He is a round peg into a square with our personnel.

This is hilarious. 2 out of the 3 things you blame Gentry for, are actually Dell's responsibility. Yet you can deal with Demps, but want Gentry gone?!?

Are you talking about "he can't run a team, build talent, or build a team around his talent. He is a round peg into a square with our personnel." Because those are all applicable to what a coach does?

Running the team- I believe this is a comment on running a system for the team.
Build talent- I believe that this is a comment on developing talent.
Build a team around his talent- once again a comment on the system he runs, and how talent is not put in place to maximize ADs talent.

Want to end the confusion? Fire them both. That does not appear to be happening.
