Regarding mock drafts. They reflect estimates of player ability and other things. It is quite simple. To assume that is all they are or that others assume that is silly.

To that end, there was silliness in this thread recently.

Yep. I hadn't researched anyone earlier but Dunn sure seems like he is just a polished shot and not forcing stuff as much from being set. My biggest worry is he's too good of a fit for Tom T and the wolves will grab him first. I *definitely* don't want the 76ers trading back into 3-5 now either.

As far as Hield goes, it's hard to deny his shooting. There's also not a huge age difference between Dunn and him so I wouldn't be upset if we had to take him if Dunn was gone. The added length on his arms is what puts him over Murray for me. I just feel he might be able to be better on the defensive end.

Valentine looks like a guy that I don't understand why he keeps dropping. He looks so if he's almost as good of a shooter as Hield while being Much better passer and defender.

My understanding is that Valentine is a decent team defender, but terrible man defender. I read that MSU had to cover him on defense because of his liabilities.

What do you guys think of Jarrod Uthoff as a 2nd round prospect?

    http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/...-Uthoff-41067/

Quick hits: 6'10" SF. Good shooter. Fair athlete.

Possessing a strong feel for the game, Uthoff posted the second lowest turnover rate among the 267 players that used over 500 possessions last season, due in some part to his shot selection, but also thanks to his patience and understanding of his role and limitations. He's not a prolific playmaker, but is a willing passer as well.

Defensively, Uthoff is a fairly unique player on paper. He was one of just eight NCAA players, and only two from high major conferences along with Chris Boucher, to play over 25 minutes per game and average over 1 steal and 3 blocks per-40 minutes pace adjusted. Uthoff may not be the quickest, longest, or most physically imposing defender, but he is a bit of a savant when it comes to contesting shots, showing impressive anticipation and a knack for getting his hand on the ball cleanly just as the opposing shooter is releasing it at and away from the rim.
Down sides are he is 23 and people are concerned if he might be in a tweener status for the NBA, not being able to defend either position.

Weird. That's the same knock on Hield. He's more of a space defender than a man.

Patrick McCaw is an interesting prospect. His weight is a negative as he's like 180lbs, but he has that Anthony Davis outta Kentucky build with very broad shoulders. Only, y'know. 6'6".

He also is very bit the smooth athlete Davis is...except 6'6" is a better shooter than he's been before and can really facilitate. Not to mention he's a very good defender with a knack for steals. Well worth a 2nd round pick.

I was actually looking into him the other day. I like his potential.

Some analytical draft models to consider with some favorite Pelicans prospects:

    College Prospect Rankings

    Jamal Murray: 8.2 (4th)
    Buddy Hield: 6.3 (10th)
    Denzel Valentine: 5.6 (12th)
    Kris Dunn: 4.2 (21st)

    PAWS

Unfortunately includes only his top 10 prospects, most of whom are big men. Third chart.

    Denzel Valentine: 5.23 (8th)
    Kris Dunn: 5.16 (9th)

Evans is a ball hog and doesn't fit well with what we are trying to do. Dunn can replace him and play better defense and run the offense with jrue. I think if we can land Dunn and get Valentine we will be in good position to get at least 2 impact players in free agency and a hopefully 2 experienced veterans.

I see something like this happening: Dunn, valentine or another solid SF and or PF in the draft.
FREE AGENCY: Al Horford and Matt Barnes or Harrison Barnes

    Starting lineup:
    Holiday
    Qpon
    Matt Barnes or Harrison Barnes
    AD
    Horford

    Bench (main rotation)
    Dunn
    Ennis
    Frazier
    Cunningham
    Asik
    Ajinca

    This would be cool.

But because I think that it probably isn't realistic. Would someone give up thay for Reke? And would Valentine fall that far?

    Would be nice, though.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.

BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

I saw a trade from a Hawks fan on Realgm that said Reke and 39 for 21. I would do it.

He is 2nd top6 prospect invited by Pels. After Murray.
Isaiah Cordiner will also visit NO. SG from France.

I've been watching highlights of prospects and I think I'd rather Baldwin over Dunn. He just looks more explosive and doesn't seem to have the injury factor. I also love Beasley and Bembry. We need to find a way to get these 3 guys. Jrue and Reke can still start but Baldwin and either Beasley or Bembry would be awesome off the bench. This way I don't have a problem over spending for a SF.

Dunn is twice as skilled. And frankly, we have had guys with perfect injury records come here and get broken down. And then Eric Gordon turns out to be one of our healthiest players until the end of last season.

Just gotta write that off. Can't control or predict it anyway. So factoring that in unless a guy really is always hurt isn't worrying me much.

A team that may want to make some trade on draft night is Denver, they've got 3 first rounders, total of 5 picks and already a logjam in the froncourt. I don't think they want that much of rookies for next year.

I don't know how they feel about their center position but I think I may take a hard look for trade like 6th pick for 15 + Nurkic or even the 6th for 15+19+Lauvergne

Because of the multiple picks and lack of picks - there will be big movements before/on the draft
NYK, BRK wants to buy a pick. PTB, OKC, CLE, WAS, MIA dont have a pick...

BOS, PHI and DEN have multiple 1st rounders. Some may go draft and stash, but for the right price they will move them...

Baldwin is a very nice prospect for the late lottery.
I am still not 100% decided how I rank Dunn, Murray and Hield...

For me Dunn and Hield are a toss up, I would literally rank them the same and if I had to choose between the 2 of them I would go for position of need. I have Murray behind both of them.

For now I have probably Dunn, Murray, Hield
    with Murray for the potential.
But I am afraid that Thibs will select him with no5.

That is why I am praying for Bender/Brown/Chriss selection in the top-5 ----->>>>> and a choice of 2 from Dunn/Murray/Hield

  25. #1400
I think Thibs is going Dunn.
