I'm not saying I would take him #1. But if he scores 35 a game on the way to a championship, you'd be surprised, you would have to at least discuss him.

[QUOTE=GuardianAngel25;1365946]Heilds game definitely translates to the NBA. He would be a perfect fit on the Pelicans. I think he has a good shot to be around at 5-6 depending on who gets in that too 5. I don't see the Suns or Lakers

Minnesota and the Lakers, I can see. Heilds allows the Lakers to aggressively pursue and attract Durant. He will be a top four pick!
Secondly, Brown will drop for sure. Poeltl will fall after being man handled against Gonzaga.
I believe Bender may fall depending on his escape clause.

I highly doubt Heild will attract Durant to the Lakers. If they decide to bring Clarkson back they have no room for Heild.

I agree.. The Lakers are dead-set on Simmons; Simmons isn't Magic, but they certainly had a lot of success with someone who had a similar skill set. He's as close as they are gonna get to him.

Now if they somehow break away from this and choose Durant, why not draft a young Durant in Brandon Ingram.

The question is who is third?

and if somehow this whole thing works out with the Pelicans sitting there looking at Dragan Bender being the best value left on the board; we Pelican fans should embrace the uncertainty as opposed to cowering to it like I myself would do lol

he scares me soo much. But it's not everyday a small-market has a chance to reach out for Dominance

If Bender is the pick then I definitely won't question it or hate the pick. Anybody here that thinks he won't pan out honestly has absolutely no clue. There are other guys I would rather have but I would welcome the pick and look forward to his development. Ideally we get Simmons or Ingram which would be a huge boost to this franchise. I would love to grab Heild though at #3 if that's where we pick. I have a feeling he will be there at #6 if the right teams are ahead of us. I don't see anyway the Pelicans can pass on Heild outside of the top 2 picks.

The top teams won't pass up the potential of Simmons and Ingram for Hield. Heck we wouldn't and I wouldn't either.

The real worry if a person wants Hield is that if he keeps this up he may move into the 3rd or fourth spot if a team that favors him slips into it.

For instance the Celtics COULD think that way. Bu they could also use a player like Bender with a ridiculous ceiling and then fill out the roster with the rest of their picks with a guy like Valentine and some other unheralded, low floor, decent ceiling players that I think Stevens could get to play well for him.

But this is why we want that 3rd pick. And hopefully a new GM lol. That way you pretty much get to pick whoever you want that isnt the top 2 and have nothing to worry about.

Does it make you think of DWade in 03? I know it reminds me of that season. Wade was an upperclassman, but he was also in a class with Lebron, and Darko had all kinds of potential, and then you had Melo.

Wade used that tourney and he moved up people's boards (going into that year he was a mid first round pick). We all know how it turned out. I'm not sure if the guys slated ahead of Hield will follow that same course as the 03' draft, but Hield is on the DWade track.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I approve of this message! If we pick 3rd to 6th I sure hope we go with Hield. If he is on the D wade trajectory, we already have his Shaq waiting! I really think this is Dell's make or break year. Seems like, due to injuries, the brass will give him another shot to retool the roster. If he misses with this draft pick. He gone!

Simmons is a plug and play with capabilities of going something like 15, 8 and 4.5 as a 19 rookie.
Thanks, glorious sounds good. As I envision the starting lineup as you said, I keep getting an Asik headache. Do you think there is a C we could get in round 2 that would improve on Asik, someone built more like the other four starters and more athletic, like A J Hammons ?

If we took bender AD would almost have to move to permanent center and bender the pf right?

  11. #686
    Jrue
    Qpon
    Batum

Bender is far from NBA ready and may not come over for a year or 2.

I see the Celtics, They desperately need the scoring and is perfect for heir system.

My thinking is Boston would trade out the third spot with Sacramento. Sac would select him and Boston would still be able to draft Bender with the seventh pick. My guess the Pels will go with Brown, Rabb or Jackson.

Rabb..........I'd rather trade down, than take another forward who cannot shoot the three, or play it for that matter.

Boston is a top 4 seed who have been desperately trying to find a star player to win now I doubt the draft Bender who won't play in the NBA for a couple of years. I can see Heild, Brown, or Murray for them. I think the Suns will take Bender, they want a superstar and are willing to wait at they are rebuilding.

How do you guys think Hield compares to a guy like Devin Booker who looks like a sure future allstar?

Actually very similar, It is way more impressive what Booker is doing because he is the youngest player in the draft. That's why people are so high on him now. If he would of stay in college 1-2 more years he would have been a top 3 pick. I was also suprised he went in the bottom lotto. He has the perfect size for sg and his biggest knock was his athleticism which he proved wrong at the combine. Heild is older and smaller than Booker so his ceiling is a bit lower.e

Good points that the Suns are rebuilding and willing to wait for Bender and Boston wanting to make a splash. Under all the scenarios, Heild is gone! So that leaves the two Cal players. Rabb is skilled and underrated. He is my choice and fills a need with his interior defense. I don't see Ryan returning under any circumstances.

Anyone else see Kawhi Leonard comparisons in Brice Johnson?

  21. #696

If this guy can guard SF's in the NBA, hes exactly the type of guy I want on this team.

  22. #697
God I want Hield as badly as I wanted McCollum a few years ago.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

I like Johnson a lot but no comparison. He is a PF in college and likely plays it in the NBA. I see him being similiar to a former player from UNC in Marvin Williams position wise. He might be able to play some SF but definitely not the answer there. A lot of guys compare to Leonard but it's likely we don't see another player make that progression like him for another decade. The work he he put in to improve is nothing short of incredible. Lots of guys have more talent then Leonard but very few put in the work and want it as bad as him.

Well if we are looking for someone to stretch the floor and AD, and allow jrue and AD to run the pick and roll and not have to worry about guards coming down to double team Hield might be the best pick, this kid has a ray allen jumper.

He's shooting over 50% from the field and an insane 47% from 3! and that's on 9 attempts from 3 per game! good grief.

Yea he is absolutely going to light the NBA up from 3. I think he fits so perfectly next to Jrue and should thrive in Gentrys system. I think he is going to be a very similiar player to Beal/CJ but even better from 3. Heild does not have to become some great passer but just know how to move the ball and feed AD which I don't see being a problem at all. The only things I think he needs to work on to be great is his defense and getting to the rim. He has so many good traits and just fits so well here IMO. If we can get a top 5 pick in this draft I feel very comfortable getting Heild. Would love one of Simmons/Ingram but Heild is the next prize in this draft IMO. He has done nothing make me more and more of a believer in his game.
