Thats the problem with having almost nothing but one trick ponies on your roster. If Ryno is having a slump, Gordon isnt hitting threes, Ish isnt getting dimes because people are missing, Gee can't play good D, Asik can't protect the paint and everybody is reverting to the norm every where else in their skill set, you have a really ugly roster on your hands.
The only way this all works is when those utility players are not only doing what they are supposed to do consistently(which they aren't right now) but also most of them have to over excel in several other areas they aren't normally good at to have a chance(Which NONE are doing tonight).
at least LSU just scored to take the lead
"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin
I said that about Horny in Phx, and Synder in Utah, last year, and some people got upset and said I didn't know what I was talking about. Neither of those guys are in as favorable situations as ours, but they sure aren't showing that. Maybe they need to work on their charts, and presentations.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.
Unless we are on fire this team is brutal to watch but what do you expect when half of your roster was picked up off the street , cast offs from other teams . I'm frustrated but it's laughable to think that some actually think that Tyreke and Cole are gonna comeback and change anything I'm just not seeing it . I don't know what the answer is but we need to find a way to get Davis some help and fast .

Its so sad to watch our offensive system , it's designed by s pre schooler it's that simple and our players still can't master it .
Watch how the Jazz play, look how they always find the open man with countless picks and dribble drives with dishes to the open man . It's so so sad how this team has become
Just do what Utah is doing. They don't have an AD. They don't have a lot of the pieces we have at the top of our roster, but they have a complete team. Keep AD, and move our other pieces to field a complete roster.
I m not off the Gentry train just yet but I think it is pretty clear he is not the type of coach that can "coach up" lesser players when injuries hit and create a cohesive unit to sneak out some wins.
Some coaches just aren't that type of coach and some guys excel at it but hit ceilings when they are loaded. The truly greats can do both but I never had any illusions Gentry would be a truly transitional type coach.
I wholly disagree there. Parker, Ginoboli, Duncan, Aldridge, Leonard, and Green are all two way players. Most with a multitude of good to great skill sets. All tied together by certain skillsets they almost all possess.
How many two way, or swiss army type players do we honestly have? Davis? Jrue(with his inconsistent offense and passing I am not even sure he can be put in that category), Qpon. Who else? Every other major player we have have severe critical flaws.

That's why I would love to see what either of those guys could do with AD and this roster. People complain about our injuries being the cause for our losses, no poor coaching is what's to blame for our losses. We have had AD in for most of our games, we have had Jrue, Ryno, EG and other competent roll players rolling out, but we have 4 wins. Heck, Gentry himself said that they couldn't blame injuries for how bad they were playing. These coaches need to coach the talent they have, not coach for the talent that's on the bench.
I mean even it we had Thibs of JVG I don't think it would be that big a difference. Maybe 2-3 more wins.
When fully healthy though, who's system do I honestly want running the show and taking us into the post season? I'll reserve judgement on Gentry until he gets some key players back fully healthy. I was one of the few here pumping Thibs but I actually do like the offensive system and Ermans system. I just think we have guys falling apart on the mental and preparation side.
Which may ultimately be an indictment of coaching if it remains through the season.

Uno how about this idea. Loomis cans Demps and brings in someone from Golden St. front office. Someone that Gentry is comfortable with working.
Where was that argument over whether or not they give Ish space? Cause that's what the last play at halftime was.
Which is kinda par for the course isnt it? The majority of games we seem to one up past performances with poor starts. 39 points against the Suns. Whatever that mess was tonight.
We just have to hope the 3rd quarter woes don't pop up as well. That seems to determine whether we will actually come back or not.
It's also why I put a lot of blame on players. Clearly most of these guys know what they need to be doing, they just don't do it. Be it defensive assignments, movement or pace.
I'm on board for that. Demps has done a mediocre job of constructing that roster, and I will take anyone to the mat who thinks otherwise. This team is a mess, and needs an identity. We don't have any more an identity than "that other New Orleans team".
I don't want to get rid of Gentry yet either. I would love to see him coach up the talent we have on this roster. Two of my biggest gripes with people on this board are 1) "well he is coaching guys who belong on the street." Who exactly belongs on the street, and if they do why are they here? Every guy on this roster belongs in the NBA, otherwise they wouldn't be here. 2) "Gentry is doing his best with the talent given to him." If that's his best, his best won't do. I think of Adelman running off 22 wins in a row with Houston, when during that streak they lost Yao, Mutombo, and others for the season, and were fielding TMac, Skip To My Lou, and Shane Battier as his big 3 for the final 10 games. No, that is doing your best. What Gentry is doing is treading water. I want more!
So 38-44 with a good roster is a good coach? They have a healthy team and a bench that is at all that bad. If we finish below .500 Gentry is terrible yet Snyder is a good coach. I don't understand the logic you use sometimes. Not saying Snyder isn't a good coach but his record last year is a perfect example hay coaches need players to win which you think is an excuse. Gentry is missing 3 key players along with multiple other guys being inured throughout the season and restrictions. Our play tonight is bad but all of those things definitely factor in. Utah has had some very bad games also with a fully healthy roster.
